Anthia

Evanithen had left for the north. For what reason, Anthia was not allowed to know. However, when he was leaving, Anthia thought it was a bit too ceremonial. He had pulled her aside in the middle of some packing chaos, and told her that he had a gift for her. "Promise me that you'll never tell father or mother. They'll tear me throat out for giving you this," and he had pulled a two-foot long sliver longsword.

Anthia's mouth had dropped open. She nodded. "Of course I won't tell them." "All good swords have a names," Evanithen had responed. "You know what to name it, don't you?" Anthia had shook her head, baffled. Evanithen let out another one of his sly grins. "Well, it's something that you really like. You got in trouble for throwing this at Dianik and ruining her dress when you were younger." Anthia had grinned when she heard that.

"Orange," she had said to Evanithen. Now, she stared at the sword in both of her hands. Why exactly had he given it to her? She had asked him the exact question, but when she did, Evanithen just stiffened up and shook his head. "Promise me that if you have to...if you have to end this, use the sword. Please, Anthia. Promise me." Anthia hadn't know what Evanithen had meant, but she promised all the same.

Then, Evanithen smiled again, kissed her forehead, and said, "I'll come back alive." Then, it was all a blur as he left.

Anthia got up from the window seat where she was sitting, and walked across her room to her trunk of clothes. Winter hopped off of her bed and followed her. Opening the lid, she shoved Orange to the very bottom. Mother and father would kill her if they found out that she wielded a longsword.

There was a sharp rap at her door. Hurrying to close the trunk, Anthia called out, "Who is it?" There was no reply, so after she closed and locked her trunk, Anthia walked to her door, with Winter right at her heels, and opened it to reveal Dianik and Oat. Dianik looked like she was going to kill while Oat looked like he was doing everything in his power to stop from laughing. Anthia opened her mouth to say something, but Dianik beat her to it.

"Anthia, I need to go into your room. To talk." Now, Anthia wanted to laugh as well. "Talk? When have you ever come all the way up to my room, with Oat, just to talk to me?" It was true; Dianik would've normally just asked one of the servants to call for Anthia. Yet, it wasn't normally that Dianik would be plotting to kill someone, either.

"Yes," Dianik said. "About our little brother and his little pranks!" She spat the last part out. Anthia sniffed. "What happened now?" she said with mock concern. "Another dress ruined?

Dianik stomped her foot. "No! It's how he framed me! He made Mother and Father think that I had a sword!" A sudden chill went down Anthia's back as she thought of Orange at the bottom of her trunk. She then glared at Dianik. "Well that is none of my concern! That's your problem, and you should be able to solve it on your own! Seven hells, you're two years older than me!" Anthia was starting to lose her patience.

Dianik glared at her back. "Well, I'm just here to warn you. You and Oat both. Stay away from me!" And then she was stomping down the steps to the main floor.

Anthia raised an eyebrow at Oat. "What was all that about? You didn't actually frame her, did you?" Oat shook his head, and finally laughed for real. "No. It's just that Dianik's been having these weird dreams and she confused them with reality. She's been raging all day, and I just though it would be funny to see your reaction."

        Anthia raised her other eyebrow.

"Alright, fine, I did frame her, so what? She really needs a laugh once in a while. Ever since Father told her that she might be betrothed to that Lannister prince, she's been way too serious. I've set a couple of pranks here and there for her to stumble into."

Oat's sentence was followed with a high-pitched scream that could only be Dianik's. "And that would be the one with spiders," Oat said. Laughing, Anthia hoarded Oat, Winter, and hersef into her room, and slammed the lock down before Dianik could come storming up to them again.
