Ways to Save a Rogue

Pulling his jacket tighter over himself, Rogue scurried up steps to Magnolias public library, desperate to get in and feel the warmth. Winters in Fiore were harsh. As Rogue thumped up the steps to the library, his phone buzzed. He ignored his phone, more focused on trying to get into the library without getting snow on him. Sadly, that wasn't working.

Rogue entered the sliding doors of the library and looked around for his girlfriend, Kagura Mikazuchi. He smiled when he saw her wave him to a table near a shelf of mangas.

"Hey," he greeted her, kissing her on the cheek.

"Hey." She replied.

"So, what's up?"

"Nothing much, you?" She shrugged.

"Well, we finished moving and-" Rogue stopped short and looked away.

"And what?" Kagura said, waiting for him to continue.

"A-and I have to go to a different school..." Rogue finished.

Silence fell between them.

"Well then maybe... " Kagura sighed. "Maybe we should... Break up..."

"W-what?!" Rogue gasped loudly. That earned him a couple of shushes from nearby people.

"Why would you wanna break up?"

"I'm going to be honest with you, Rogue. I personally think that a long distance relationship would be too much, we'd probably not be able to see each other for at least a month if we kept our relationship, and maybe it's best. I don't want to be the reason your grades go down-"

"Kagura, that won't happen-"

"No Rogue. I think that's best," Kagura stood up. "I know its best."

"But..."

"I'm sorry Rogue, but... We're, we're no more." Kagura said in a low voice.

She kissed his forehead, than ran out of the library. Rogue stared at the table he and Kagura had spent their last moments at. He felt a part of him being torn away. Kagura's words rang through his head.

"We're no more..."

He got up and left the table, heartbroken.

So this is what love does to you... He thought.

I shall never love again.
