Binding, binding, binding. Here are some rules to help you find safely:-Always bind for less than 8 hours a day. Binding for long hours every day over time breaks down tissue and can cause breathing problems, back pain, and skin irritation.
-Always take your binder off before you sleep. Same goes for exercising.
-NEVER use duct tape or Ace bandages to bind your chest. Binding with these can restrict your ability to breath and move properly. Ace bandages in particular are designed to constrict, so as you breath they get tighter and tighter and can really hurt you. Binding this way could even break your ribs. Using them could also ruin your shot at getting top surgery for the rest of your life.
-If it hurts, stop. Try out a larger compression shirt, find binding alternatives that work for you, or try different ways to hide your chest without binding. Pain is always an indicator that something is wrong
-Please don't buy those like $2 binders off of Amazon! Those are never designed well and can hurt you. When it comes to binders, you really do get what you pay for. But from companies like gc2b that have good reputations!!
