*A/N So you know, I freaked out at Patch when she ended the last chapter with Fox throwing-up all over...you know, I'm not evening going to finish that. But I'd like to think Karma got back at her when she stole my ring, put it on, then got it stuck on her finger. ;) *
Fox's P.O.V.
I've never liked milk. Now I hate it even more.
Since when do five teenage boys keep organic milk in their house?! Since when do teenage boys drink anything that's healthy at all?! And what are the odds that Artemis would tsunami me to drink the one thing I turn out to be allergic to? Apparently it has some rare stupid chemical that I can't ingest. The dumb doctor told me years ago that I never had to worry about it, because there wasn't much that chemical was found in. Yeah, and look where that got me.
So I was puking up my guts for the rest of the night. Artemis felt really bad about it, and wanted to stay with me while I was sick, but I wouldn't let her. I wouldn't let anybody. I wasn't mad, I just didn't want anyone to see me like this.
I woke up the next morning with bright sunlight streaming through the windows. I sighed and turned over, snuggling deeper into my covers. My head pounded from dehydration, given I couldn't keep anything down. I would've been contented to lay there in my huge soft bed all day, but Artemis had other plans.
"RISE AND SHINE CUPCAKE!" She shrieked like a drill Sargent, the door banging open as she ran into my room. I jumped about a mile. "No, Artemis go away," I groaned, pulling my covers over my head. "No sirree, ma'am! It's almost 11:30, and you know what I say about 11:30," She replied, coming over and yanking the covers off me and onto the floor. "No I don't know what you say," I mumbled, shoving my head under a pillow.
"You know...the cows...ate...pumpkin pie," She said lamely, obviously not having a saying for 11:30. I snorted and tightened my arms around the pillow. There was no sound for a minute. I was hopeful that she left and I could just go back to sleep. Of course, I should've known better. At that exact second, a trumpet sounded right into my ear. Where had she gotten a trumpet?!
I screamed and jumped up, getting tangled in the sheets, then fell off the bed onto the floor. "Owwww my head," I groaned, curling into a ball and trying to stop the pounding in my head. I had never had a hangover, but I was guessing this was pretty close to how it felt. "There's no time for pain! Breakfast is getting cold!" Artemis said, trying to untangle me from the sheets. But apparently the sheets wanted me to stay curled up in them as much as I had.
"Just leave me alone to die!" I groaned when Artemis tried to drag me out by my hair. "Oh boy. Artemis what did you do that she wants to die?" A deep, British voice asked from the general direction of the doorway. Wait, does this mean that the guys are watching this?! Crap! "No! Don't come in!" I squealed in a panic, and somehow managed to roll under the bed.
"OH MY GOD A GIANT BEETLE JUST ROLLED UNDER FOX'S BED!" I heard Louis shout a moment later. "That is Fox," Liam said with the air of someone explaining something complicated to a toddler. "What? Oh no! FOX HAS BEEN TURNED INTO A GIANT BEETLE! C'MON ARTEMIS, WE'LL FIND AN ANTIDOTE!" Louis screamed in a panic. I heard him run over to Artemis, heard her scream, then the unmistakable sound of her being thrown over his shoulder and ran out of the room.
It was quiet then. Maybe they decided to go after Louis and Artemis to make sure they didn't blow anything up. You know, it was actually quite comfortable under here. I could probably stand to sleep here... "Fox? Are you okay?" Zayn's voice asked from right beside the bed. I could feel my face flush with embarrassment, and my whole body heat up. Oh God, how could he even stand to talk to me after what I did?
