Prologue

I flew around all night long. I didn't know where I was going, or what I was looking for, but I knew I was looking for something important. The air here was different than Neverland. It was more crisp, cooler, cold enough to smell the coldness. On Neverland, the air wasn't hot, but dry. Maybe that is what I needed, something cool down the air on Neverland.

I descended from the stars closer to the land that I know as the land without magic. I saw building which were nothing like my land. They were indescribable. They weren't run down huts or looked like castles, that was all I could say about them. I couldn't tell if I liked them or not, but I just wanted to get away from them.

I float above a village, or whatever they are known as in this land, until something caught my eye. It was a person on top of one of the buildings. I don't know why but I had to go near them. Luckily, it's dark out so I most likely won't be seen.

I drift down to an area that I can hide away. I look and find myself looking at... a girl. A beautiful girl might I add. I haven't seen girls since Wendy Darling. She was boring. This girl didn't look boring.

Her knees were pulled up to her chest as she sat at the edge of the flat roof and she was looking up at the sky. She had curly hair. I couldn't tell what color it was. Perhaps a dark color. Her lips were moving but I wasn't close enough to know what she was saying. She was smiling though, so whatever she was saying or thinking was making her happy. I could only see her from the side but I could tell she had a pretty smile.

I wanted to know who this girl was. I wanted to know why I wanted to be close to her. I wanted to talk to her, but I didn't want to scare her. It might be a little frightening for some for a boy to just show up out of nowhere and begin to talk.

But I had to talk to her. I needed to know who she was and what kind of power she has over me.

I was about to walk over when a voice out of nowhere calls "Juliette!"

"Yes?" the girl asked back looking down. Juliette, beautiful name for a girl like herself. I smiled to myself thinking of her name.

" Please come down. It's late and a school night." What the hell is a school night?

"Mom, I come up here every night. What's the difference if it's a school night?"

"Because it's late and I would feel much better if you were down here."

"Okay." she replied with no complaint. She stands up and she has a gorgeous body. I know it's dark but I can see the outline of it and I feel... I don't know what I feel. I just want to grab it and run away with it.

As she gets closer to a staircase I hide away once again. She goes down it and once I think she is low enough down I follow her. I watch as she climbs through a window, but leaves it open. I float down right above it to hear what it is her and her mother are talking about.

"Why do you feel the need to go up there everynight and do... whatever it is you do up there?" what sounded like an older woman asked, probably her mother.

"First of all," Juliette began with a bit of humor in her voice. "I count the stars up there." That must have been why her lips were moving. "Second, I don't know. It just feels... right. They are beautiful and breath-taking and if I could just look at them all the time, I would."

"You are your grandmothers granddaughter." The older woman said with a chuckle. Juliette giggled in responce. It was a beautiful little laugh. I wanted to hear it again. I didn't want to stop hearing it.

I decided to take my leave then. I had to return to the other boys. But I had to see her again. I had to come back the next night. Even if I didn't talk to her I just needed to look at her.

I knew as I was flying back to Neverland that she had to be mine. There was no other option other than she was mine. She wasn't average, she wasn't ordinary, she was different. I wanted her. I would get her without fail. I would make her mine girl. She is my girl.

She is the girl that counts the stars.
