Prologue
Destruction.
It was all around as Loghan screamed. Her agony was reflected by the black spikes growing around her, the odd smell in the air, the smell of blood and sewage wafting around. Red covered her clothes and her hands, the cadaver of a man she did not know beside her.
Loghan cried out as she saw his face, blood dripping out of his mouth and stomach. A dark crystal was pushed through him, and thus he lie there lifeless.
She did this. She was infected with whatever those superpowered people had. She was leaving. Then that man tried to take advantage of her, and she lost control.
She'd killed him.
Loghan roughly pulled at her hair, the spikes in the alleyway growing around her, encasing her in a dark prison.
That's how it should be, she thought to herself, clenching her bloodstained hands together.
"Loghan Crawford," a voice called out.
She suddenly stopped crying and wiped her tears away, trying to distance herself as much as she could from the voice.
"Go away," her voice broke.
"I can't do that."
She heard footsteps approaching. The building shook and the spikes began to grow faster as her voice quivered, "I said go away!"
"Loghan, I know this might seem like the end of the world," the person was calm. "But you're going through something huge, and I can't let you do that alone."
"I killed him," she cried.
"Killed who?" the voice asked.
"I killed him!"
"Loghan, I need you to listen to my voice, okay?"
Loghan didn't care. She was too engulfed, too guilty. She'd killed him. It wasn't her mom, it wasn't SHIELD or Hydra or the Avengers, it was her.
"I didn't mean to," she whimpered. "I didn't mean to. I didn't mean to."
"Loghan, either you take down this wall, or I will," the voice warned.
Loghan snapped her head up. "Leave me alone!"
There was a pause before the black crystals were shattered at once. Loghan scrambled backwards. "Stop! You're in danger!"
"Loghan, listen to me."
Loghan could see the owner of the voice now. She was a beautiful woman, with dark hair cropped short. Her face and voice were calm, but her hands were up, as if she was ready for a fight.
"No, you listen to me. You need to go, I already killed him, I don't want to-"
"You can't hurt me," the woman interrupted, slowly taking steps towards her.
Soon the two were a foot apart. Loghan glanced nervously at the woman's outstretched hand, then at the gun on her belt.
In one swift action, Loghan stole the gun, pointing it at her chest. "Go!"
"Loghan, put the gun down," the woman urged.
"I'm a monster," Loghan sobbed, and turned the gun on herself.
The woman's eyes widened as she realized what was about to happen. She thrust out a hand and shockwaves threw the gun out of her hand.
Loghan stood there in shock, staring at the woman.
The woman didn't say anything as Loghan collapsed to the ground, shutting her eyes hard. She walked up to her and held a hand out.
Loghan looked up at her. "Who are you?"
"Daisy Johnson," she gave her a small comforting smile. "You're going to be okay."
