Aro's head perked up when he heard the heavy doors of the throne room open and saw Jane with Alec supporting her.

Jane looked horrible. Her eyes were sunken and she couldn't even support her own body weight. Aro looked at her with as much concern that he could muster.

"Jane, dear, would you mind if I take a look?" Aro asked cautiously with his hand outstretched.

He heard Jane sigh quietly and reached her hand out and placed it into Aro's and he was then pulled into a series of Memories that was in Jane's point of view.

I only stared at William. I couldn't believe he was my mate. I always had this fascination about the High king of the Volturi. The castle did not have any portrait of him but, He was written in the history of the Volturi. I wanted to come with him but, my brother was waiting for me. "What do you need?" I queried.

"So she speaks," William teased me with a little smirk making me roll my eyes and stare hard at his grey eyes trying to inflict pain but, my actions were futile making me scowl while William laughed,

"That won't work on me, Little one." William said, teasing me but, he suddenly turned serious, "I want you to come and live with me." William continued but I slapped him.

William tried not to show his anger and masked it with a teasing chuckle, "feisty."

"Your loyalty is not purely from you. Your contentment is artificial." William stated placing his hand on my cheek which I shook off.

The witnesses and the Cullens were still in the background.

A few moments passed and I got a bit startled when William suddenly knelt down on his knees.

" I have not felt this feeling for millenniums," William stated looking down at the ground. "You have unlocked something inside me that nobody has ever done before," William continued raising his head and looking Jane in the eyes. "I vow to guard, to protect, and to love you." William finished, still staring intently in my eyes, hoping.

I suddenly shook William's hold off of me, reluctantly, may I add. I stared down at him and said,

"I do not need you guarding me nor protecting me. I am my own and I can handle myself perfectly."

"I don't want anything associated with you. My loyalty is with the Volturi, I am perfectly alright with where I am today." I said with unbearable pain hitting me.

I could see in William's eyes that he was confused.

I didn't realize the impact of my words to William since I thought the person rejecting their mate is the one who gets hurt. So, I left and followed the masters and my brother without notifying William.

Aro was pulled out of Jane's memories with a gasp. He couldn't believe that Jane would reject her mate just because of the faux loyalty that connected her to the Volturi.

"Dear Alec, go bring your sister back to your rooms. My brothers and I have a lot to discuss." Aro stated leaving no room for discussion which Alec nodded to and left the throne room with his sister in his hold.

"What did you see, brother?" Caius asked, intrigued.

"Jane has rejected William." Aro stated bluntly making Marcus look at him with shock written all over his usually emotionless face.

He knew the pain of losing one's mate and it is unbearable. One either dies while trying to cope, or he becomes a shell of what he used to be. The latter happened to Marcus when Didyme died. He couldn't understand Jane's decision. Now, her and her mate are suffering and is in an abundant amount of pain.

"We have to do something about this, Aro.  Maybe Jane doesn't understand the severity of her decision but, We do. We cannot lose a guard like her." Marcus stated making Caius nod in agreement and Aro sit on the throne, pondering.

"I'll ask Carlisle if he knows where William is and once I retrieve his location, we'll fly to wherever he is," Aro stated while standing up from his throne. "Jane knows that this is her fault but she's too stubborn to even think about talking to William. Pack your bags brother because we are going to go see, the High king." Aro said while exiting the throne room and to his own chambers, phoning Carlisle to ask about William's whereabouts.
