PHOTO NOTE PRT1

in which Bucky says
goodbye

~*~

"Doll" Bucky smiled sadly as his girlfriend read over the paper, marking the important things on the calendar.

"What?" She asked softly her fingers running over the text of the yellow paper.

"You can do that whenever" He looked at her from the sofa putting his paper beside him.

"I just need to mark down when you'll be home, then I'm done" She flicked five months into the future on her calendar circling the 17th.

"Come on" He stood up flicking the radio on, walking over to her holding his hand out.

"Buck I'm not really in the mood" she looked up at him sadly. He sighed taking the paper out from under hand, screwing into a ball and shoving it in his pocket.

"Please?" He asked her, she clasped his hand softly and he pulled her up off the chair leading her into the centre of the lounge area.

"Weren't you meant to be at the stark ex-po tonight?" She asked him as he twirled her into him watching her dress flare out like an umbrella.

"Yes but, I saw Steve earlier and he wanted to take this girl he met so" he shrugged his hand resting on her waist as he lead them just swaying in the living room to whatever song was playing.

"Steve with a girl?" Y/n asked resting her head against his chest listening to his heartbeat.

"It took me a minute to believe it but regardless, I kind of wanted to spend my last night with my best girl anyway" he shrugged kissing the top of y/n's head.

She listened to his heartbeat for a minute wondering if it'd still be beating in five months time. She had a gut feeling that his days were numbered but ultimately put to her own fear. She hadn't realised she'd held him tighter and that tears had started to fall from her eyes.

"Y/n, Doll" Bucky sighed pulling her away from him, moving his hands to caress her face. "Don't cry" he smiled softly although it was obvious he was putting on a strong face. He wouldn't admit he was terrified, Sargent or not.

"Sorry Buck"she whisped as he wiped her tears away with his thumbs taking in her entire face seeing nothing but beauty in her. "I'm just scared" she admitted and Bucky chuckled.

"There's no reason to be, Doll. You're stuck with me" he assured her.

"I would love nothing more" she smiled softly. She inspected his face, worried at what war might do to it. He must've noticed he face change as he leant down and placed his lips on the smaller girls.

A fragile kiss, her lips were soft and stained and plumped from her red lipstick from the day. They were slightly salty from her tears but Bucky didn't care he never really did. She could have the Spanish flu and he would still kiss her. It's probable what would made him miss her the most.

"I love you" he told her pulling away his lips still brushing against her as he spoke. "And you better remember that because I will" he added pulling away seeing the smile appear on her face. He always thought she was most beautiful when her lips were freshly kissed.

"I love you too, I can promise you you're the only Brooklyn boy who has my heart, Barnes" she smiled. He pulled her into his arms squeezing her tight. "Oh, Buck!" She remembered pulling away opening a draw. "I was with Donna the other day and her and her husband did this thing and I thought we could do it" she smiled pulling out two photos.

"Get married?" Bucky asked as she sat at the table next to her.

"No no, we can when you get back" she smiled. "Okay so, we both write a message on the back of the photos, to each other and we don't read them until we feel most at need for them" she told him pushing a photo towards him. He smiled widely looking at the photo.

"Okay" he pushed the photo back towards her and she pushed her towards him. "So don't read it until we really need to" be asked her and she nodded. He put the photo into his pocket over his heart, she smiled softly. "I'm gonna miss you doll" he told her.

"I'll miss you more" she smiled.
