*BEEP BEEP BEEP*

/ Jennifer Lawrence /

I wake up to the sound of my stupid alarm clock. It's still 6:00 a.m. But it's still early, I think. Then I look at my calendar. Oh. It's the first day of school. Great. But I really don't want to go. Let me just sleep for five more minutes...

*Shake shake*

"Jennifer! Jennifer, wake up!" I wake up to the shouting and shaking of my mother. "Yeah. I'm awake," I say. "You are running late for school, young lady," she says, crossing her arms. "I can't be late. It's still 6:05, isn't it?"

"No, silly. It's 7 am!"

WHAT THE...

I hurriedly got up, took a quick shower, and got dressed. After eating breakfast, I kiss mom in the cheek and head outside. It's 7:20 and I realize the school bus left already. So I made my dad take me to school.

---

"Thanks, dad," I say as I get out of the car. "No problem, dear. Remember to always be yourself and make new friends, okay?" he says, smiling. "Yeah, yeah."

Kentucky High School is huge. It has brick walls and it seems to be old.The entrance, which I expected to be filled with students, is empty. I look at my watch and it reads 7:35 am. Crap, I'm 5 minutes late! My first period is English. So I run to the classroom with the help of my school map I've gotten from the entrance.

When I reach the door of my classroom, I'm red and sweating. I open the door and all eyes are focused on me. This is awkward, I think. The teacher turns and says, "Good morning, Ms-"

"Lawrence," I cut her. "I'm Miss Lawrence. Good morning, ma'am. Sorry I'm late."

"Ms. Lawrence, I am Mrs. Grace, your English teacher. Please take a seat beside Mr. Hutcherson," she says, pointing at a boy with almost black hair and blue eyes. Handsome.

I take my seat beside Hutcherson. Mrs. Grace continues writing stuff on the board. "Hey," Hutcherson says. "Hi."

"I'm Joshua Hutcherson. Call me Josh," he says, lending out his hand. "Nice to meet you, I'm Jennifer," I say, shaking his hand. At my right sits Josh. At my left sits a girl with short hair and hazel eyes. She looks at me and smiles. "Hi. I'm Shailene Woodley. You are?"

"Jennifer Lawrence," I say, smiling back at her.

The whole period, Shailene and I keep on talking about each other, where I came from and what her favorite movie is. We weren't listening to what our teacher is saying. She doesn't quite catch us, which is a good thing.

I feel like Shailene and I will be great friends.
