He moaned quietly at first, colours and noise blurring into one, both growing increasingly more and more unsettling. He craved warmth, food and love. Unsurprisingly, he wanted many things. He didn't know why - as is the way with babies. Like many animals, they have no real sense of their being, but instead, an unrelenting knowledge of their needs.
His tiny, discerning blue eyes snapped open. They darted with an inquisition focused on familiarising himself with his surroundings. Such an action though was in vain, for the four walls surrounding him knew nothing of colour and the floor and ceiling were just as bare. In truth, the pitiful room possessed only two items, excluding himself. One was the splintering, beaten-down cot he lay upon, and the other a small blue crystal encasing a dancing cerulean flame.
The longer Owen stared at the single, lone spark, the sleepier he felt. Its dance, like a physical lullaby - swaying softly. Emitting tender rays that stroked him to slumber. So Owen slept, subconsciously acknowledging the codependent relationship he'd formed - he gave the fire his breath, and it gave him warmth and light.

He jolted awake, as rough hands, almost like sandpaper, brushed against him. The light went out - his light. Deep within him, fury boiled, a frothing red obscuring all other thoughts. It started as a whimper, timid and afraid, but after the hands repeated their offending action - he began to wail. Screams, almost as piercing as his azure eyes darted around the room. Like knives - they stabbed at his parents. Both of them, reeling back in shock. As he shrieked, his parents spoke - worry etched across their faces.
"We need to get him out of here before anyone hears."
"A-Are you sure?"
"I love you, and Owen, but this was a mistake..."
"A mistake?! OUR SON IS NOT A MISTAKE!"
"Calm down! Now! Neither of us can afford to lose our positions as a Councillor. It's him, or us."
"I - "
"Shhhh. It'll be okay - I promise you."
"B-But what about Owen? He'll need us Kenric!"
"I'm afraid - that won't be possible."
"Kenric?"
"Mmm?"
"...I'm scared."
"Me too, Oralie, me too."
(I've almost done Part 2)
