"I don't know what she was talking about". Qoriah denied vehemently.

"Don't you even dare, Iya ewe hissed. If you try any nonsense here, I'll slap you so hard you'll be seeing your ancestors. Its better you start spilling now before I beat you black blue".

"It was before he came here. She confessed. I swear I've not been back there since he came here".

"Who came here? Alhaji asked. Was it the man that came here with his parents? Is that who you're referring to?"

"Yes sir". She answered.

"You've been meeting with the man behind my back and then decided at a point to bring him to my house with his parents and pretended that you've not been to his place before. Were you pregnant too?" Alhaji asked.

"No sir, I was not". She replied.
"I realised that I've been wrong all along and Faria told me to make it right". She quickly defended.

Alhaji laughed humourlessly. "So both Jamal and Faria has been helping to chaperone your forbidden relationships. I thought Faria was decent but now I know better. What else do you have to say? Do you have a hidden boyfriend of your own too?" He directed at Faria.

Faria didn't reply verbally but shook her head in denial. I was disappointed in Qoria for dragging Faria into the mud. She didn't even take long to transfer the blame on her and I had never been more relieved that we're not close.

"What do you plan to do about her now?" Iya ewe asked Alhaji.

"She'll have to be under house arrest. I don't trust her to go anywhere since she has shown me that she most definitely do not deserve the freedom given to her".

Alhji dismissed us and this time around, we didn't hesitate to leave. After all, there was nothing else to say and we've had enough to chew for a days.

We retired to our room and I chose to catch a quick nap but Jamal tapped me and said he own me an apology and the dinner he's promised me during our second week of marriage would finally be fulfilled.

'He sure took his time even though it was an odd time to mention such'. I thought. What kind of person promises you a thing and planned to fulfill it several months later unless the person wasn't being sincere in the first instance. I didn't say anything aloud determined to give him the silent treatment and make him feel absolute worse for what he did to me.

I shouldn't be so surprised since he could lie to his family, even his strict father his family. I probably do not know him as much as I thought. If he wasn't a shady person himself, how could he ever have taught of concoting such lie? It's too severe.

What was he even thinking to have come up with such a story?
No normal person should be able to manipulate the situation as much as he did, unless they were compulsive liars. I would never have in a million years have come up with such a story even if I tried hard to be original. All these thought made me come to a conclusion that he must have done this several times to be able to play us this smoothly. The kind of persona that he actually possessed is now a question that begs for an answer. Thumma sabeela yassarau (help me lift my heavy baggage), Ya Allah. I prayed quietly

When he realized that he won't be getting any attention anytime soon, he sighed and open his laptop probably to get some work done on it.

I lay on the bed and turned my back at him, waiting for sleep to seize me but I didn't get to sleep before Kabeeras call came in.

"Asalam Alaykum sis. How's your day going?" She asked.

"Wa Alaykum salam. It's perfect as usual. To what do I owe the grace of this call?" I joked.
