As Leorio stepped onto the boat, he got the familiar feeling that he might soon beat the shit out of someone. However, he chose to ignore it. It was very often that he was challenged to fights by weaklings who could never hope to beat him, and he couldn't let such a common occurrence distract him from the journey at hand. For Leorio was on his way to attempt, and very likely pass, the Hunter's Exam. Obtaining a Hunter's License would greatly help Leorio in his very noble goal of becoming a doctor and getting loads of ca$h money. Thus, Leorio focused on examining his surroundings for potential sources of information on the exam.
Using his superior intellect, he deduced that the most able person to assist him would likely be the young battle-shōnen-protagonist-looking kid wearing a stylish green ensemble. He looked like the kind of kid that would be the a lovable main character in a young boys' manga, and Leorio was sure that any interesting events to follow would likely center around him. His theory was soon proved, as the young boy, introducing himself as Gon, proceeded to predict a storm based on his sense of smell.
This is bad, thought Leorio. At this rate, Gon might become the main character! He considered tossing Gon overboard, but stoically chose against it; Leorio only used his immense power for good, or for money, and tossing a kid into the ocean would likely bring him neither.
"That's right! I don't need to eliminate Gon to make sure I become the main character! I just have to overshadow him!" Leorio chided himself on his rare moment of foolishness before taking a moment to analyze the situation.
Using his superior powers of perception, he wisely came to the realization that the exam process had, in fact, already begun. Leorio determined that it would serve him well to impress the captain, who had likely already begun testing potential applicants.
"This is the perfect opportunity to use my special skill!" murmured Leorio. The advancing storm would likely incapacitate those susceptible to sea sickness, and helping them would surely make him look super cool. So as the storm jostled the boat, Leorio prepared himself to activate his special skill.
Leorio was obviously a man of many skills, but the one in question was certainly among the most impressive. For, having spent extensive amounts of time studying and perfecting various medical practices and treatments, Leorio had developed the ability to instantly heal any minor ailments within a reasonable radius. This was no magic however; Leorio had simply treated so many people throughout his career as an aspiring doctor that most common treatments had become muscle memory. Using his lightning-fast reflexes, Leorio moved from person to person, healing their seasickness like some sort of medical god, which he may as well have been. Within moments, all the travellers, formerly in various states of nausea and dizziness, were healthier than they had felt in ages.
"Wow, that was so cool!" Gon cried loudly, approaching Leorio.
Perfect... thought Leorio. If anyone could perceive my lightning-fast movements, it would be him! Good thing he's here, otherwise my heroic deed might have gone unnoticed.
Leorio's genius plan fell in to place as the captain approached the pair.
"You did this?" inquired the Captain, gesturing to the healed passengers.
"It was nothing..." Leorio humbly conceded.
"Hmm...Well, that was certainly very selfless of you! If you'd just let them succumb to their seasickness, you could've eliminated most of your competition. As it stands now, I suppose I'll be taking all of you to the Hunter's Exam."
Leorio's triumphant grin quickly changed to a scowl. How could he have been so foolish?! In his infinite mercy and kindness, he had not been able to resist helping the suffering, and had not considered what he might have been sacrificing.
But it's not too late! Once again, Leorio concocted a genius plan.
"Woah, what's that over there?" he exclaimed, pointing to nothing in particular. The captain and Gon both turned away, trusting completely in his elegant ruse.
In the brief moment before they turned back, Leorio used another one of his special skills. Similarly to his previous ability, Leorio moved among those he had healed at unfathomable speeds. However, this time he just punched them really hard. In less than a second, a pile of unconscious bodies littered the deck of the boat.
"I don't see anything...What was it?" said Gon, as he and the captain turned back to look at where Leorio once again stood.
"Oh, I don't know, I guess I was just seeing things, haha, HEY, WHAT HAPPENED TO EVERYONE?!" Leorio lied expertly, feigning shock at the horrifying display, "I guess they must've gotten seasick again. Well Gon, it looks like we're the only ones competent enough to take the exam huh?"
The captain was a little shocked for a moment.
"This...is certainly unexpected. I suppose...I suppose you're right. You three seem to be the only ones who didn't get seasick! I'd like to talk to you some more, so please meet me in my quarters." With that, the captain strode away.
"Of co- Wait, three?" Leorio's attention was suddenly drawn to a third member standing next to them. Concentrating only on those affected by seasickness, he had ignored this mysterious poncho-clad stranger, who like him and Gon, has been unaffected. Before he could speak however, the unfashionable stranger followed the captain inside. It seemed he was not interested in conversation.
"C'mon Leorio, let's go!" Gon exclaimed cheerfully, dragging Leorio out of his thoughts. That's right. Leorio thought to himself. It doesn't matter that I missed one guy. He congratulated himself on his successful navigation of the situation, and entered the captain's quarters, ready for whatever was thrown at him next.

Leorio x Leorio
FanfictionNot a selfcest thing, haha, I'm just parodying the title of Hunter x Hunter with my title. Anyway, I thought Leorio should have been the main character, so I have written this holy text to rectify this wrong.
