They flew for what felt like hours, although it may have been just a few minutes. Moonrise couldn't tell. Her tail ached sharply from the cuts she got from the glass, and her eyes drooped. They hadn't gotten nearly enough sleep last night, since the Queen was just so excited to kill them. Why did she want to kill them?

"A cave," Crescent announced. "We can hide there."

Moonrise looked in the direction Crescent had pointed to. Not too far away was a moderately sized cave in the side of a mountain. They flew for a little while longer in complete silence. There was so much to say, but neither of the dragonets felt like talking about it. Soon enough, they arrived at the cave entrance.

"Hurry," Crescent warned. "We want to get as far inside as possible."

And so they trekked on inside the cave. The further they went, the more signs of civilization they noticed. Clearly, they were not the first dragons to have entered this cave. Torches long burnt-out lined the walls, and she could almost make out footprints in the darkness. Suddenly they ran into a dead end.

"This should be fine for now," Moonrise said. Something in the middle of the cavern they had entered caught her eye. Were those branches? She walked over to investigate, and sure enough, it was a charred pile of logs. Someone had definitely been here before. She went to touch it, but Crescent stopped her.

"Wait. We shouldn't light it, it's too risky. What if a SkyWing sees the light?"

"I'm sure they wouldn't. We're pretty far inside the cave now..."

"I guess you're right..."

Moonrise touched a talon to one of the logs. It sizzled and smoked for a few moments before erupting into flame.
