The sky always fascinated me.

As I watched the swirling orange and red colors of the sky, I couldn't help but feel a little lonely. The FaceTime had ended several minutes ago, and my mum and brother were late.

I sighed. A few months ago being alone in the house never bothered me, when I was still talking to Adrian. Now it just feels like a time I would rather not encounter.

I unfolded my legs and started swinging them, cursing out loud when I accidentally banged one of them against the hard wood of our porch.

"Fucking hell", I muttered as I nursed my temporarily injured foot.

My phone buzzed. I quickly opened it.

Nathan: Hey

I cracked a smile. I quickly typed back.

Me: Hiya

Nathan: What's up, Pri?

Me: Just boring myself to death. And watching the sunset LOL.

Nathan: Haha, I was thinking of doing that too but I can't be bothered to get off my bed.

Me: You and your GOT, geez.

Nathan: Hey! It's only just the greatest show to grace the world of entertainment :/

Me: *rolls eyes*

Nathan: Urgh. Anyway, did the prick text you with an apology yet?

I swallowed a lump down as I read that. My birthday was a few days ago. People I hardly know had wished me. But not him, Adrian didn't, despite knowing it was my birthday since he saw other people wishing me.

Me: Nah.

Nathan: Jesus Christ, what a bastard.

Me: Ah well, I can't force him to wish me, can I? xD

Nathan: Well, yeah..

Me: And it's not like I expected him to wish me anyway so.

That was a lie. I genuinely believed he would wish me. I was looking forward to it. That single wish would have made my day so much better.

I cried a lot when I realized he didn't wish me at all.

Nathan: Still a dick move.

Me: What else can we expect from him? :D

Nathan: LOL true that xD

I looked up when I heard a car engine's noice. Mum's car came into view.

Me: Hey Nat, call me later, yeah? Mom's home, gotta help her sanitize shit.

Nathan: Sure, talk to ya later.

Pocketing my phone I ran towards mom.

"Take these bags and don't let it touch anything in the house until they are sanitized properly", Mum ordered as she handed me two Tesco polyethylene bags, profusely sweating under her face shield and mask.

"Yeah, yeah," I said hurriedly as I started to drag the the heavy bags towards the house. Mum followed with another bag and her briefcase.

Her position at work didn't allow her to work from home so she had been going to work 3 times a week since last month.

I took the sanitizer and sprayed that all over the bags and it's contents. And just to be sure, I sprayed the table too, where I kept it.

Mom took off her protective gear and sighed in relief. Dumping the mask in the bin, she handed her face shield to me and asked me to sanitize it as well

"I'll go and have a shower now. Put the vegetables and chicken out. Stash everything else in the fridge," she told me before leaving for upstairs.

"Alright", I said slowly.

I slapped the cold chicken onto the table and dumped some of the vegetables beside it. Then I carefully bundled the rest of the groceries inside the fridge.

Rubbing my hands to get rid of the cold, I walked upstairs and went inside the room, closing the door.

I sat down and leaned onto the headboard and gazed out of my window like I did almost everyday in quarantine.

It was the fourth month of getting over Adrian and the improvement was so very slow. Nathan helped a lot, so did my friends, but nothing seemed to fill the void Adrian dug in me when he left my life after just 2 months in it.

2 months were enough for me to find him a place in my heart

I got up all of a sudden, shaking my head as if to get rid of certain memories and stood infront of my window. I heard my phone vibrating again.

I picked it up without even checking who was calling.

"Hello?"

"Pri!"

"Now you call me, you bastard."

"I am sorry, I was so fucking busy with those assignments!"

"Ah fine, fine", I waved it off. Kristian cared too much about studies, I should have expected this.

"So what's up? I swear we gotta meet up in the next few days, everyone is going out!"

"Nah ,man,my mom and Peter would rather buy me a Gucci bag than let me go out."

"For fuck's sake, I hate not being able to meet up anyone."

"Yeah, I get you. I do have a feeling we will meet very soon, I don't know why though," I said with a laugh.

"You and your bogus gut feelings,"Kristian said with a mock disgusted tone.

"Hey! Half of the time they are correct," I protested playfully.

" I think you mean 20% of the time, Miss. Brown," he said coolly.

"Meanie," I said with a scowl. I was just about to say something when he cut in.

"Hey Pri, imma go now, mom is calling me to help me with Jenny", he said suddenly and urgently.

I signed, yet again, inwardly, "Sure."

He cut the phone and I was alone, yet again.
