2 years since Operation Hawkeye

"Don't do this."

Alex grabbed me tightly from behind. The rain was pouring hard from where we were standing, but through my own tears I knew he was crying too.

"I-I can't."

2 weeks earlier

"You sure you're okay taking care of HQ by yourself?"

"Yes, daddy. I'm not alone. I have Alex and all the other agents with me. Just trust me," I said with a smile.

"I feel terrible for leaving you on your eighteenth birthday. I tried to get other agents to fill for me, but they were all busy."

"No, I understand. Enjoy your mission and stay safe!"

I hugged my father goodbye before he left for his mission in the Cape Verde Islands. There were some American dealers in a mafia selling illegal weapons and drugs to some dudes down there. Nothing big; just the usual. He grabbed his suitcase and left with two agents.

"Wanna go out for dinner?" Alex said after my father left.

"And what do you have in mind?" I said and linked my arm with his.

"Was thinking about a burger...."

"You know me so well."

At around 2 in the morning, there were two knocks on the door of my room. I blinked my eyes sleepily and reluctantly slipped out of my bed. These things didn't happen often; only when there was something immensely important that had to be done.

When I opened the door, my dad's friends and partners Agent Olivares and Agent Branson appeared at the door with somber expressions.

That could've only meant one thing.

As soon as they said the words, I crumpled to floor.

My father was dead.

"They were flying to the islands, when the charter plane they were riding exploded without warning. We think it was intentional; intended murder by the mafia. I don't know how they infiltrated the secret airport we have in San Jose, let alone plant a bomb on the plane." He paused for a moment, looked down at the ground, then said, "I'm sorry for your loss."

The world began spinning around me, and I lost all conciousness and fell onto the floor.

Present

"Please! Stop. You can't do this."

I was on the edge of the rooftop about to plummet 850 feet to the ground. My emotions were at an all time high, and I knew I wanted to commit.

"And why can't I? My father's gone. The man who taught me everything I know. He's made me who I am today, and if I can't live with him then I'd rather not be alive. Now let me go."

"I'll be here for you! And you know that. I can help you make it through this. I can help you find the man who wanted to kill your father."

With Alex's last sentence, I let him pull me back to safety and cuddle me in the rain. He sighed a sigh of relief and I finally let the tears fall from my face. I turned my body so that we were facing each other, and I sobbed into his shoulder.

I pulled away from him, my eyes full of hatred, and I said, "I'm going to find the man who killed my father, and I'm going to murder him. With no mercy."
