Note: remember in chapter 20 when I said I'd get a one on my AP exam? I got a two. I have beat my expectations. Anyways happy 'it's been three months sorry for going missing I lowkey wanted to die for a hot minute'. Lmao you can tell I wrote different parts at different times consistency is a lie
Also, I can't believe I went from 'gifted kid' to 'highschool dropout' in one year. Crazy.

"Kid, they've changed who's on guard duty today." Sakura hummed as she picked off another piece of her lunch to give to the crow.
"Anyone new?" Yoko jumped over to her plate, snatching up one of the larger pieces for herself. "Hey! That one was mine!"
"No." Yoko said, gulping down the food as if Sakura would steal it back. She would. It was homemade. "Don't leave it out if you don't want me to eat it."

As soon as Sakura had been assigned Danzo upon receiving her headband, she had begun keeping tabs on him, and, by extension, tracking the different shadows that followed her to and from her missions and cores, and keeping count of who they were in case they ever ended up encountering them in the future.
Yoko was lending some help for the process, training Sakura in the areas of sensing and testing her with the number of root agents she managed to pick up on around her. She tried not to feel bad when the crow would reveal the number to be higher than she noticed because they were technically ANBU level, but at the same time, many of them were actually children, and it wasn't fair.
She had worked so hard before, gotten so far in life, surpassed her mentor, the Hokage herself, for what? To get thrown into the past? To fix some fucked up problem and prevent a war? She lost all the progress she had made with her physical training. Lost her reputation, her teacher, her friends, her life, for what? What could she do? Getting thrown under the tutelage of Danzo had thrown it into perspective for her. Had shown her that, no matter how hard she worked, how much she tried to catch up, to get back her old skills in her old life, she could not, because she was a child, not some Hokage's apprentice turned ANBU turned war victim. No. She was a seven-year-old ninja wanna-be with bright pink hair.
A seven-year-old ninja wanna-be with connections to a founding clan and a mentor that was most definitely not working for the good of the village. A seven-year-old that was allowed to go on a B-ranked mission because Danzo was busy and the Hokage trusted the squad's abilities to keep her safe. Sakura Haruno was not where she was before, was not who she was before, but she wasn't in such a bad place to be.

"Oh my god, Sakura how could you say that? You're supposed to be cute."
"Shisui, you are currently bleeding all over my leg how am I supposed to be cute?"
Genma laughed in the background. "Shut the hell up Genma, you're just as bad as he is." He just laughed harder in response.
The mission was easy on paper. Get in, get the information from the contact, get out. On paper. In person? The mission went as well as expected. They got in, Genma at point while Shisui took the rear, Sakura sandwiched in the middle, tracking anyone that could be int he area with her sensing jutsu. Shisui went on guard the moment Sakura tensed before the warning could even leave her mouth. Genma struck down the two guards with a senbon, knocking them unconscious as Shisui struck out on the other side, taking out the remaining guards that had rushed towards them.
They reached the contact, Sakura heading in to accept the information because no one expects a kid, ever. Shisui held off the guards down the hall while Genma kept his eyes on the contact and Sakura. She struck him down with a kunai to the head, taking the scrolls from his person before turning towards Genma. He grabbed her and headed out the window, waving at Shisui and making a jump to the wall.
Shisui followed, blood dripping from his left shoulder as he landed beside them. Sakura gripped the scrolls tighter and stared at Shisui's bleeding arm. She was jerked from her thoughts as they took off again, Genma not letting Sakura go until they were a good ways away from the area of combat. When he did, and she moved towards Shisui to make him sit down and 'shut the fuck up so I can fix your arm' Genma started laughing. He stopped when she made him help her. He wasn't the medic for a reason, that's for sure, but she was going to teach him something.
