40. Hokori Riyushi: 1-BEri stood alongside her fellow classmates as they proudly faced the cheering crowd. Her face was flushed, though not with the heat of her quirk but the pride of making it through the first stage of the sports festival. Next to her, Matsumoto squeezed her hand excitedly as they watched Midnight strut to the middle of the stage.
"Congratulations to the first batch of students to continue!" she cheered, clapping her hands with glee. "But don't get too comfortable. You still have two more stages until the end, so don't think that you can drop your guard now. If anything, you need to be more prepared than before."
The students straightened up at these news and waited earnestly for the next instructions. Midnight pointed at the large screen behind her, which showed the rotation of contests for the second round slowly rolling through all of their options. "The next round will be..."
The rotation sped up until it was nothing more than a blur before slowing down and stopping. Eri squinted as she read it. "Minefield..."
Midnight squealed and danced around in excitement. "Oh, one of my favourites! Allow me to explain. In this game you will be in a team of four, all of you attached together by these wristbands." She held up her hand to reveal what looked at first glance to be high-tech handcuffs. "If you take off the wristbands, you're disqualified. Each team will start on the edge of the arena. Now, each team will start off with a certain point value courtesy of your placement in the last round. If you were in last place, you get five points, second-last, ten points, all the way up to first place which has the point value of two-hundred points. Your team points will be a culmination of each individual's points."
She then pointed down at the arena, which was revealing sliding panels that disappeared into the ground and revealed a myriad of different objects. "Scattered all around the arena will be Point Boxes. These are used to boost your team's point value and get ahead of other teams. White boxes are worth one point. Yellow boxes are worth five, red are worth twenty, blue are worth fifty, and green are worth seventy five points. Each of you will be given a bag to put your Point Boxes in when you get them.
"Now, it won't be easy to get them. Under the ground, and you won't know where, are five different kinds of objects. The first is a landmine. These will explode (safely, of course) under your feet and take ten points off of your team. The second is a sticky bomb. These will expel thick goo that will immobilize your team, leaving you vulnerable to other teams. The third is a fairy bomb. This will release thick fog-like smoke into the air, making it difficult for you and your team to see. The fourth is a candy bomb. This one will shoot little boxes worth a certain amount of points all throughout the surrounding area. The fifth is an air bomb. It will shoot a geyser-like fountain of air into the sky, which may affect your team negatively if you aren't careful.
"There is one more object you must be aware of." Midnight licked her lips in anticipation. "The Golden Egg. It is worth one million points!"
Eri blanched. One million points? If that was the case, then whoever had the Golden Egg at the end of the game was guaranteed to lock in the first place spot, no matter how many points the rest of the teams had.
