This is taken from the River/Xander scene that's in 'Colors', though that scene wasn't in the final version of the book, so I have taken multiple liberties here to change some aspects (though the key ones remain the same).
"Tomorrow then?"
"Definitely, Mat. Listen, I'm really sorry I can't make it today. I miss you."
"I know, Babe. It's okay. Do you know...I mean are you allowed to tell me?"
"What I'm doing? I don't know the full details. It's with Master Xander."
River didn't know the details, but he had requested a session with Master Xander because the man specialized in medical kink, and River was more than a little intrigued by it. He didn't want to admit that to Mat though. What if Mat thought it was weird, or just too much?
But Mat was a 'try everything once' kind of guy, so he probably wouldn't judge. River had a feeling he was going to be into it, even if it didn't appeal to Mat...and he didn't even know why all that was running through his head. It didn't matter whether he was into it or not. Mat's opinion on it was never going to be an issue.
"Anyway, Mat, gotta run. Speak tomorrow."
"Oh, okay, yeah. Love ya, Babe."
River was thankful Ellis chose that moment to appear in the doorway of his bedroom.
"You ready?"
"Why are you grinning so hard?"
"Just...you're going to love it, I promise."
"You do? Have you worked with Master Xander?"
"Nope. Suzu's, er, possessive about that kind of thing."
"What kind?"
"Other Doms. There's no way he'd agree. Well, except for a couple times when he's let me help him train a new Dom. But I'm not allowed to actually be submissive to them. But Suzu knows a lot about this stuff too – he trained Master Xander in some of it a few years ago. Suzu doesn't do the whole roleplay set up though."
"Roleplay-?"
"Are you ready boys?" Master François interrupted, a knowing look on his face.
Well, it was now or never. And it was now. River was thrumming with excitement. Once again, Master François stayed behind and Ellis took River's hand and led him to the club and up the stairs. Room '4'. Ellis knocked, bouncing on his toes, grinning.
River was shaking a little when the door swung open, revealing Master Xander wearing dark gray scrubs.
"Master Xander, River is here for his appointment," Ellis announced.
The Dom glanced at his watch with a raised eyebrow.
"Indeed. Come in River, it's good to see you. Hello Ellis."
River caught sight of the stark, white room and felt as if he couldn't breathe, the nerves increasing with every passing second. "Hello Master Xander."
Master Xander's imperious glare softened, and River realized he'd been playing a role.
"River, before we start, may I ask why you asked me to provide some training for you? You know my preferences, yes?"
"I do, Sir. Um, I don't know what a lot of the aspects really are."
"So what parts are you interested in?"
