At lunch I got my tray and sat down at a table in the back of the cafeteria as usual, when out of the corner of my eye I saw Sidney looking around for a place to sit. I looked at my food and started to eat when I felt a presence beside me. "Hey," It was Sidney. "Mind if I sit with you?" I motioned to the seat next to me and she sat down. "So how are you liking it here so far?" I asked. "Great! I met  you and a nice girl named Caitlin." I made a face. "Do you know her?" "Unfortunately" I muttered. "So what brought you to Boston?" I asked, changing the subject. Sidney frowned. "My mom lost her job." "Oh, that sucks." She nodded. A chair scraped the floor and we both quickly looked to the other side of the table. A guy with messy blond hair and glasses sat down across from us and smirked. "Hey Sid," He said "I thought that was you."  I glanced at Sidney who starred wide eyed at the mysterious guy. "Darren?" "Yep thats me." he exclaimed. She stood up from her seat and procedded to hug him. "It's so good to see you! This is Haven" She told him. He looked over at me. "I'm Darren, an old friend of Sid's. How come I've never seen you around?" My cheeks flammed, embarrassed. "I just guess we've just never crossed paths." The lunch bell rang and we got up to go to our next classes.

When I got home my mom asked how my day was. "Good. There was a new girl at school." "Really?" She prodded. "Yeah, she's nice. We sat together for lunch." "It's good you're making new friends." I rolled my eyes. She was always bugging me about how I need to 'put myself out there'. Mom looked at me "Aw honey I'm sorry, you know I'm just worried about you." She came over and kissed me on the forehead. I smiled "I know". I went to my room and turned on my computer. Before I started my homework I went to instagram and searched up 'Sidney Cruz', but nothing came up. Tomorrow at school I would ask her to exchange numbers.

The next day at school Sidney sat beside me in history class and smiled. Her dark hair was in a messy bun with some hairs framing her face. Mrs. Delaney announced that we would be starting group projects today where we were supposed to research on one of the presidents in our history. "You may work with the person sitting beside you." I looked over at Sidney and she asked which president we should do. "Let's do Abraham Lincoln." I insisted. We got to work and at the end of the class I said, "We will need to meet after school to continue on our project. How about my house tomorrow?" Sidney looked at me apologetically "I can't right after school because I have to pick up my brother and sister" "I can come with you and then we can drive to my house after" I suggested. "Sure that sounds good." she said smiling.
