It was a sight to see, five girls of different aesthetics and personalities wandering around London together. Simply put: seven books had brought these five girls together, united by the love for the series in which a seemingly ordinary boy defeats the darkest wizard for a century.
"I'm telling you; she messed up, Draco deserved the redemption arc," Mel rants, opening the door for the four girls behind her.
Ana laughs, "No-one is arguing against you, Mel – we all know how strongly you feel over Draco." She pats Mel's arm consolingly as she passes her to enter the shop.
Each girl pauses in the bookshop, taking in the sight of what had brought them together in the first place. Their love of books had united them, but their love of the Harry Potter series had created their friendship.
"Let's make it a game, we'll spread out and grab a book we think we should read and pick the best one," Ana called to the rest, her fingers already trailing spines.
Ellie crouched in front of one of the many shelves, her golden brown locks falling into her face as she examined a hardcover book in her hand. She held up the object, a big grin spread across her face.
"Guys, you have to see this." She giggled, waiting for the other - now curious four girls to walk up to her.
"What's that, Ellie?" Ana asked with raised brows, tucking her hands into the back of her high-waist jeans.
"Who is the writer of the Harry Potter series?" She asked, chuckling at her obvious question.
"Is this a prank?" Des questioned with a sceptical look across her face as she crossed her arms in front of her chest, whilst playing with her tongue-piercing.
"No, look at this." She held out the book. A brown-haired girl walked closer to her, taking the book out of her hand, looking at the bottom of its cover with a snickering sound leaving her lungs.
"Mel, would you mind telling us what is going on?" Kiara asked, twirling the end of her black hair, around her fingers, impatiently waiting for the girl to talk.
"It says Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, written by Gilderoy Lockhart." She chuckled, turning the book around in her hands, showing it to the other girls.
"The publisher must have been in a funny mood." Kiara replied as she got hold of the book. "Is there any more of this edition?" She turned towards Ellie, who started pushing the other books aside searching for more copies of the same book. She started putting the ones she found on the carpet, arranging the shelf back neatly as it was before.
"There's four more." She smiled sweetly, grabbing the stack of books and standing up. "One for each of us!" a victorious tone in her voice.
"Let's go and pay then," Mel said with a smile, starting off towards the cashier, followed by her friends.
The group walked out of Waterstones as they all carried their new copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in their hands. If anyone saw them from afar, they would probably think the girls were headed for a convention or something, but no – they were headed for their much-awaited Harry Potter book club, an event these 5 internet friends had planned for over a year.
