Mystic Falls (A Vampire Diaries FanFic)

Chapter 1: The Beginning

Mystic Falls 1864

Vampires exist. This town is crawling with them. Ever since Katherine arrived, many people have been dying of supposed animal attacks...

Now as a vampire myself, having been turned by Katherine when I was struck with Tuberculosis, I remember getting some water from the well in the woods when hearing a scream. Abandoning my bucket, I located the sound of the scream and saw a hooded figure with blood running down his mouth and his victim on the ground. She was lifeless and completely drained of blood. It was then, I realised that it was Diana Lockwood whom I had seen but had never really spoken to during the occasional Lockwood parties. But before I could even utter a sound, I was pinned towards a tree and compelled to forget.

The Salvatore Brothers and I have been my best friends ever since I moved here 2 years ago. I had moved here after my parents died in a tragic fire. I remember going with Stefan and Damon to the woods on horses. I had always loved the woods. They reminded me of my hometown, Georgia. That was, before my house burned down.

-Flashback-

I remember my ragged breathing as I fought to stay alive from tuberculosis when Katherine walked into my room and gave me a choice of new life. I chose to accept it. Why should I die at 16? I thought. That was when she bit her wrist and fed me her blood. It was all I remembered before she killed me so that I could transition into a vampire.

 

When I awoke, it was dark and it took a while to remember past the fog in my head. Sitting up, I looked around and was confused as to why I was in Emily's house. Looking around, I saw Emily, Katherine's maid making some tea by the kitchen.

Groaning, I got up.

"You're awake" Emily said to me as she walked towards me.

"What happened? I asked. "I'm so thirsty."

"You're transitioning into a vampire. You have to drink human blood to complete the transition. So are Stefan and Damon who were shot through the heart before the church burned down. They are in the garden and I have tended to them. But first, have some water." I drank greedily and thanked her.

"I have also given you a daylight ring so you are able to walk in the sun." she said

Looking down at my hand, I saw a ring inset with lapis lazuli and diamonds surrounding the oval shaped stone. "Thank you." I managed before heading out to the garden.

'Stefan, Damon?' I called out. Hearing some noise of an argument, I went to investigate and found the both of them standing aggressively by the Rose bush.

'It was your fault!' Damon snarled  

'Katherine wouldn't have died in that fire if it weren't because of you! You were too weak Stefan!' 

Before the fight could escalate any further, I got in between them and said 'Stop! You two just stop! Katherine wouldn't want you both to fight would she? She would rather see you taking care of each other not fighting!' 

'You know what?' Damon said 'You both can just leave me alone.' whirling around, he left.  

'Wait! We need to feed!' I said 

'There's no life without Katherine!' Damon spat before leaving Stefan and I alone.
