"...Shinsou?" I asked, pressing the phone to my ear.
"(Y/N), you finally picked up!" He started shouting. I recoiled a bit at the volume. "I heard that the school got attacked today, and you weren't answering your phone, so I just got a little worried. Anyways, I guess what I'm trying to say is, are you ok?"
A smile slowly grew on my face, and I let out an honest, happy laugh, ignoring the two men and one teenager who whipped their heads around to stare at me. I really liked talking to Shinsou. I was really lucky to meet him. "Yes, I'm fine," I giggled, shaking my head a bit.
"That makes sense," Shinsou chuckled a bit. I grinned, and I could almost see him rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment. "They did say the attack was only in some building separated from the campus. I guess I kind of just freaked out 'cause you weren't answering." That was the moment when I realized rather suddenly that Shinsou had no idea what class I was in. "So did you get home ok? I know your chaperone kind of got caught up in that attack," he joked a bit.
"Oh, um," I debated a moment on whether or not I should tell him. He hated class 1-A with a burning passion, and for good reason. If I told him, he might end up hating me, too. I wasn't sure if I could deal with that after spending so long dealing with my untrusting classmates and teachers. Eventually, though, I sighed softly. I couldn't lie to him. "Actually, I'm still at school."
"Wait, really? So am I! Where are you? I'll walk you home," he said. I winced slightly. I was really hoping he wouldn't still be at school. I didn't want him to know I was at the attack. He was going to figure out I was in 1-A. "...(Y/N)?"
I frowned slightly. "I'm, um..." I heaved another sigh. "I'm in the nurse's office." It was silent for a moment, and I bit my lip. "Shinsou?" I asked softly but was met with the beeping of my phone letting me know that the person on the other line had hung up. I tossed my phone to the side and buried my head in my arms. I should've known this would happen. Shinsou hated class 1-A; it would only make sense that he would hate me too.
"(Y/N)!" I looked up to see Shinsou panting in the doorway. A large smile took over my face. "What the hell happened to you?!" He rushed to the side of my bed, his face painted in fear. "And since when is sitting in the nurse's office hooked up to an IV being 'fine'?!"
I laughed again, shaking my head a bit. "I'm fine, really, it's just a drawback of my quirk. I guess I overdid it a little bit," I chuckled a bit.
Shinsou rolled his eyes. "Yeah, a little bit," he scoffed. "So anyways, what happened? How did you get so hurt?" He frowned, glancing at the bandages covering my hand and the scratches on my arms and legs.
"Ah, Ms. (L/N) here was very brave in defending her classmates," Tsukauchi offered, smiling over at us. "Without her, who knows what might have happened?"
"Her classmates?" Shinsou asked, turning to me. "You're in class 1-A?"
I swallowed the lump in my throat and glanced at my lap. "Y-yeah, I am. Is that ok...?" I asked tentatively.
"Of course it is," Shinsou said. I looked up at him. "I'm just worried about you. So you were there at the attack?"
I grinned and laughed lightly, throwing my arms around his neck. The purple-headed boy stiffened under my arms. "Thank you," I whispered softly, sniffling a bit. About a second later, I felt his arms slowly wrap back around me. We stayed like that for a few more seconds until eventually I let him go.
Shinsou just smiled a bit and sat down on the edge of my bed. "So tell me about what happened. Was it scary?"
"Oh, please," I scoffed playfully. "I never get scared. That whole attack was a piece of cake. I had those villains running within seconds!"
Shinsou chuckled and shook his head. "Well yeah, I already figured that. I meant for the rest of your class. Not everyone's as cool as you."
"Hmm, I guess you're right," I said thoughtfully, pretending to think it over. "I am pretty cool. It's a hard bar to meet."
"Seriously, tell me what happened," Shinsou laughed. "They only told us that there was an attack."
"Um, well, a portal opened up in the center of the USJ and a ton of villains started walking out. Aizawa jumped over the ledge to fight them, and I jumped after him--"
"You did what?!" Shinsou snapped.
"What?!" I tilted my head in confusion.
"You jumped over a ledge and into a massive pack of villains?!" Shinsou asked incredulously.
I nodded. "Yeah. Aizawa needed help," I stated the obvious.
Shinsou scoffed and shook his head. "You're insane, aren't you," he muttered. It sounded almost like he was saying it to himself.
"I most certainly am," I grinned toothily at him. "So, anyways..." I went on to explain everything that happened, from beating all of the minor villains with Aizawa, to when they were stupid enough to throw someone with a water quirk into a lake, to when All Might finally showed up and beat the creepy bird villain thing. Of course, I purposely left out a few details that Shinsou would have freaked out over, like when the Nomu crushed my hand.
"Wow," Shinsou breathed once I had finished. "You really are insane." I rolled my eyes and punched him gently. "I'm serious!" he laughed, trying to avoid my punches. "You jumped into a sea of villains, tried to get them to attack you instead of your teacher, -- who, by the way, is specifically there to protect you -- jumped in front of a monster about to attack knowing you wouldn't be able to stop him in time, purposefully taunted the two strongest villains there, and used your quirk to the point where your body gave out on you."
I nodded a bit. "Yeah, sounds like you got everything," I shrugged.
"Yup, definitely insane," Shinsou nodded. I pursed my lips, trying my hardest not to smile. Shinsou grinned back at me and patted my leg gently. "Don't worry, it's a good kind of insane. The kind of insane that tries to protect people." I ducked my head a bit and laughed softly, shaking my head.
"Well, dear, I think that's about it for today," Recovery girl smiled up at me, gently taking my arm and removing the IV before covering it with a piece of gauze.
"Thank you," I smiled softly back at her, swinging my legs over the side of the bed. I only then noticed that All Might and Midoriya had already left, their beds completely empty. Shinsou helped me up gently, keeping a firm hold on my left arm to support me, and led me down the halls, distracting me with stupid jokes until we reached the door of class 1-A.
"But (L/N)'s just so scary!" My hand paused, hovering shakily over the handle at the sound of the pervy little grape's voice.
"It is a little freaky that she can just take control of your body whenever she wants," Kaminari piped up.
"She talked to those villains so casually, almost like she knew them," Kirishima added.
"Midoriya, what do you think?" Iida asked.
"I-I don't know, she just..." He paused for a moment. "At the end there, I was getting ready to attack that mist guy, but she pulled him out of the way. I'm not really sure why she did it, but it seemed almost like--"
The door slammed open, and the room immediately fell silent. The students all turned to stare at the purple-haired boy that none of them recognized standing protectively in front of their classmate.
"I had no idea that class 1-A was so idiotic."
