made myself an identity within the MacGyver (2016) universe. might i add, I won't make this into a full story; also i am not in medical school but i thought it was a cool prompt. this is somewhat inspired by a nurse i met who actually treated patients injured in protests, in the ER. an assertive, intelligent woman.

This scene takes place in the "War Room".

María stands before the team, which comprises: Angus MacGyver, Riley Davis, Jack Dalton, Wilt Bozer, and their leader, Matilda Webber.

María decides to tell her story after Matty introduces her only by name and role within the team.

"Hello everyone,

I was at the protests that helped overthrow the former authoritarian Venezuelan government. But I was not protesting; I was helping the wounded amidst tear gas and rubber bullets, with no protective gear on. Didn't have much time to grab anything. I was in my 2nd year of residency when that whole mess blew up. By the time things were calmer, I managed to finish said residency, getting an honorary mention for my actions. Now, some street photographer took a picture of me, caught me on tape, too, and it went viral, both in my country and overseas: "this young Doctor was a hero for Venezuelan protesters", news headlines said, but that's a little excessive. Anyway, when the US government found out, they decided to recruit me as a military doctor, properly trained me in field medicine, some hand-to-hand combat too, but no firearm usage, given the Hippocratic Oath, and as you can see, I am currently stationed here in LA, allegedly recruited by a so-called government think-tank. I suppose the Phoenix Foundation will be a new home for me. I'm confident we'll get along if each of you does your best, but if you don't, it'll just prove why you need me".

Matty smirked confidently, looking at María and then the rest of the team. They simply raised their eyebrows and remained quiet, exchanging looks. That was, until MacGyver got up and walked a few steps to where María was standing. He was holding out his hand.

"Doctor, it's a pleasure having you here". María shook his hand confidently.

"Likewise, MacGyver. I've heard a lot of stuff about you".

"Good stuff, I hope".

"I guess we'll see".

"Alright, then".

The whole team was now grinning.

Hard not to; this will be interesting.
