Momentous

Prologue

The day was filled with sadness as gray clouds blanket the sky and the heavens cry. How fitting.

I look up from the ground, ignoring all the moving black umbrellas. Staring at my... late wife's grave, I wait for most of the attendees to clear out. I still don't understand why her mother invited people who never really cared for her. Not even close to how I do. You know what? How about I relive the last time I saw her one more time? One more time can't hurt me more than I'm already hurt.

Flashback, 3rd POV

It was 8 a.m. when Nathan's alarm went off. He had to be at work by 9:30 to make sure that his company, Heaven's Touch, was running smoothly. As he was about to get out of bed, Nathan felt arms around him. Looking over, he smiled at his sleeping wife. Normally, his wife, Jane, would have been up by now. She would be in the kitchen making breakfast for her husband and two children. Not that Nathan was complaining.

Five minutes has passed before Nathan decided to wake up his love. Doing the same thing he always does when waking Jane up, he kisses her cheek, then forehead, and finally her nose. He waits for her to stir and... nothing happens. He caresses her cheek, "it's time for us to get up now, Angel." Now, this started to worry Nathan. You see, Jane has always been a light sleeper. Even the small sound of a pin drop could wake her up.

Sitting up, Nathan starts poking and shaking his wife. "Jane? Babe. C'mon, this isn't funny." He sits on his knees on the bed and that's when he sees it.

He follows the blood, praying to the heavens that Jane was just on her period and having a heavy flow day. If only he was so lucky. What Nathan saw when he looked at the back of his wife was a big, deep hole where her heart was.

End of flashback
Jane had been murdered right next to me, and I didn't even notice. That was on Friday. Two days later, and here we are, with my angel 6 feet under.

Hiya guys, I hope you enjoyed chapter 1! So, the next chapter won't be released for a little while. School just started and they're really working me to the bone. But I won't take too long (hopefully the next chapter will be out next weekend... or tomorrow). I was just excited to show you guys what this book will be like, so here you go :D
