"The vexing sounds of the "singing beast", mesmerized me in an instant"
The following afternoon, she was once again pestered by Reiji about going to school.
"You cannot stay inside forever." His ordering voice was heard, from the other side of her door.
"Look here Stuck-up boy, I have no intention of doing that." She said angrily as she swiftly opened the door.
"It has been three weeks since you came here, it's time you start living like a normal human being." His eyes looked sternly down on her. His arms folded to his chest.
"Psh, what do you know about being "a normal human being". She motioned quotation marks in the air. "You are anything but that, you-" She was shortly cut off by what it seemed, an impatient vampire.
"Enough, if you don't want to come, then suit yourself." Her words irked him. Reiji knew she was right.
The girl annoyed as well, from their little quarrel, slammed the door behind her and went back to her bed, where she was bothered from initially. There, the last book of the stack that was borrowed from Reiji, stood open at its last of its pages. Dunya picked it up and tried to read however, she was too annoyed to actually focus.
"Perhaps I should try going to school, that way he won't bother me anymore." She told herself, while pondering the option. Shortly after, one of her lost memories struck her. The past, in which she was at school laughing and enjoying her time with her friends. A bittersweet smile took over her lips. "That is something far away." Her voice hinted sadness.
Couple of days have passed and she was going back and forth, between going to school and not going. Also the pressure Reiji put on her every time about the subject, tilted her to the "no" side of the scale. These past days, she was restless, sleep depraved, mostly pacing from one side to the other in her room.
"What could go wrong if I go to school?" She asked shrugging in question. "Are you crazy? Everything can go wrong!" Her inner voice exclaimed, almost painfully for the tired girl. "But the brothers will be there..." She continued her monologue. More like a dialogue between her and her inner voice. "So? Do you think they will actually care? Or help you around? Or babysit you?" The girl clicked her tongue in annoyance. It was true, that was a possibility. "But what if?" She didn't want to give up.
Her train of thought was interrupted by a noise she was all too familiar with, her hungry stomach was begging for some food. Defeated by her inner voice and her stomach, she went downstairs to grab something to eat.
The mansion was quiet as usual, when the brothers were at school. She made her way to the kitchen, without any fear that she might bump into any of them. The sleepy girl, opened the fridge and picked some ingredients to make herself an omelette, with some bacon.
Not long after the bacon started sizzling in the frying pan, a voice came from behind the now famished girl.
"Are you cooking for me? Wild kitten?" His cheerful tone chimed in her ears.
"Get lost, I am cooking for myself." Her stomach also notified the vampire, that it needed food.
"That's so cute." He chuckled at the sound of her hungry stomach.
"Get lost, I said." She was irritated. Partially cause she lacked sleep, partially cause she was hungry and also a small part cause he was there.
As her attention shifted to him, in a split second she grazed her hand by the hot frying pan, slightly burning the back of it. Dunya winced in pain as she put her injured hand, under some cold water. It stung but also it felt refreshing.
