Setting- Open Field
Date- Dawn, Thanksgiving day

A deer hops through waist-high grass, not far from Michael Jackson, camouflage, hunting rifle in hand. A serious man, imposing, still built like a prize fighter at 37.

He doesn't move a muscle; letting his 17 year old son, Prince take the shot.

Prince Jackson, 17, aims his rifle, a little shaky, still learning. He squeezes the trigger  -- POP POP --

The deer stumbles towards Michael and Prince, shot in the neck. It backs up and collapses. The high grass hides it's final moments in a canopy of swaying tendrils.

Setting- Highway In Michaels pick up truck- Later

Michael is driving and Prince sits in the passenger seat. Music is playing on the radio but Michael talks over it to tell Prince something.

"Most important thing your grandpa taught me. Be ready. Hurricane, flood, whatever it ends up being. No more food gets delivered to the grocery store, gas stations dry up. People turn on one another and all of a sudden all that stands between you and being dead is you." Michael said to Prince

Michael looks at Prince. Prince nods, idolizes his father even if he barely understands him.

Michael nods back, not finished, not satisfied, but done talking.

Setting- Infront of The Jackson's house

A yellow musty RV turns onto Fairmount St., creeping past modest
houses with slush covered lawns, past Michael Jackson's house.

Michael's  pick-up truck parked in the driveway.

The RV then parks in front of a random house that is two houses down from Michaels house.

The Jackson's front door opens and Michael's daughter, Eden, 9, walks out into the cold, followed by Michaels wife, Grace, a fragile looking beauty with a whisper thin voice:

"Eden, wait for mommy!" Grace said.

The Jackson's were going to spend Thanksgiving with the Gold's; which the Jackson's are very close to.

Eden came up to Prince and asked:

"Are we taking the truck?"

"We're walking there you dope." Prince said.

Michael then gets out of the truck. Eden  notices and runs up to him, motioning for him to pick her up.

"Daddy! Can I have a piggy back ride?"

Michael gives her a smile, squats down, let's her jump up on his back--

"Up you go Eden." Michael said as he stood back up, Grace watching on, smiling.

Eden sitting up on his shoulders now, Michael leads his family down the street to the Golds' house.

Prince; (To Michael)

"Puck's dad said he'd sell me their old car. I got half of what I need saved for summer, I thought maybe-" Prince said before his dad cut him off saying;

(Puck is the Golds' family oldest daughter)

"Forget it. I'm barely getting enough carpentry work to keep up with the mortgage."

Prince then said

"Why don't you rent out Grandpa's old apartment house?"

Michael looks at his wife Grace who's grinning smugly.
