'Thank you!' Cheryl said to the Uber driver after paying. She climbed out of the car and went to the trunk to pull out the suitcases. Toni and Ivana followed and took one, leaving Cheryl to get the other.

The yellow car pulled away, leaving the three girls back at their home in LA. Entering the apartment complex, Toni and Cheryl headed straight to the elevator, which was just about to close. They got in just in time and Ivana hit the button with a three on it, since they lived on the third floor.

They were the only ones in the elevator, so they would usually spent the small amount of time it took to get to their floor pulling faces in the mirrors, but all of the girls were too tired for that after the twenty hour road trip. Finally, the doors opened and the family stepped out, silently walking to their room.

After reaching number fifteen, Toni handed Ivana to Cheryl and reached into her back pocket of jeans to pull out her key. She slid the small, silver piece of metal into the slot and turned it until it clicked. The familiar sight of the living room met the girls. They took their shoes off so that the white carpet wouldn't get muddy then headed straight for the brown leather sofa, leaving the suitcases at the door.

'Thank goodness we're home,' Toni breathed before flopping onto the couch. Cheryl sat Ivana in between her moms, then wrapped her arms around her family, knowing that Toni would need a hug after the events of the past few days.

'We'll get back to normal now,' Cheryl began, 'we can get back to performing tomorrow and just forget about what's been happening.'

'I can't wait to perform again, I've never had more than a day off,' Toni told her girlfriend. They both worked as magicians at a local circus and they loved their jobs. It didn't pay particularly well, but it was enough.

'We should get an early night,' Cheryl pointed out.

Toni nodded, her eyes darting from object to object around the room until they landed back on her girlfriend.

'Yeah, I'll get dinner started,' the brunette said before standing up and walking over to the open-plan kitchen and grabbing two pizzas from the freezer.

She took the film off of the outside and placed them on baking trays and into the oven after turning the dial to 350 degrees.

'It'll be done in twenty minutes,' she stated, sitting back on the sofa with her family.

A few minutes of silence passed, Ivana was asleep on the middle of the sofa and Cheryl had noticed Toni staring off into space.

'What you thinking about?' Cheryl asked, making Toni look over to her.

'My father,' she said, 'I wish that for once in my life accept me for who I am and not judge me, instead just treat me as a father should. He should be proud of me for living the life we're living.'

'He should be,' Cheryl told her, 'but many families don't do what they should or act the way they should towards each other. It sucks, but at least you know you've tried with him.'

Toni nodded absentmindedly. Although neither of the girls had had the best upbringing, they were both good people, and, more importantly, good mothers.
