Colton heard it... But he didn't fell it... All that was in his mind was protecting this family... A family so much like his own...
The horrified looks on the faces of the little girls told him all he needed to know... He felt apprehension and dread fill his chest as he saw the blood slowly soaking through his uniform...
Then it hit him... The pain... The dizziness of blood loss... And the numbing fear of never seeing his daughter again... He slowly sat down as a lady called the ambulance. He applied pressure to the wound to try and stem the bleeding.
He felt a thick liquid slowly press up, choking him as he tried to breath. He coughed violently as his ears started ringing, his vision beginning to tilt and go foggy.
The doctors tried all they could but at the end of the day Colton's photo was hung on the wall of a police station, his daughter given his medal, and a newspaper article...
