'Mummy' screamed Abigail. This was it. This was all Jenny had wanted. She had the love of her life, the perfect job and now a gorgeous little girl she could call her own. Jenny had step children, from her first marriage a girl called Daisy and from her current marriage she was step mum to Carla, Kate and Aiden. Not many people knew but Jenny did have a child with her first husband, a little lad called Tom but he drowned and it broke Jenny. She had this new life now and although she would never forget Tom she kept going.
Working in a pub is one thing but living there with a little girl is another however the adoption agency clearly saw how they could make it work as they let Abigail live there and be adopted. This was the happiest Jenny had felt in a long time. She had wanted a child of her own for a long time but with her and her husbands chance of conceiving getting less and less every day she had lost hope.

"Jen" shouted Johnny.
Coming my love.
"I've just spoken to Carla and she's said she's happy to look after Abi anytime, she even offered to have her this week"
Aww bless her Carla's an angel, she can have Abi this Thursday if she wants, and if Abi is ok with it.
"Yeah ok sounds great, do you want to ask her or shall I"
How about we do it together.

Johnny nods in a agreement, pulling Jenny in for a kiss, as he takes her hand they wander in to Abigails room to find her playing with her horses.

Hey Darling, do you remember Carla?
"Errm I think so is she the really pretty, brown haired lady that I met when you came to see me"
"That's the one sweetheart" says a rather proud Johnny. "Would you like to see her soon" he goes on.
"Oooo yess please" Abi squeals with excitement.
"I'll go let her know" Johnny walks out to call Carla, he looks back and beams with pride.

3 hours later
Night Abi, love you.
"Night mummy, night daddy, I love you"
"See you in the morning" Jonny said in his softest voice.
Jenny smiled, holding back tears: she was proud of everything she had achieved and seeing Johnny like this made her realise how much she really missed Tom and what an incredible step dad Johnny would have been to him.
As Abigail drifted off Johnny and Jenny crept out. Johnny pulled her in close, he could see the hurt behind her smiley eyes.
"Look you stay up here and I'll go cover the bar with Chelle".
Are you sure.
"Of course, take your time" he gently places a kiss in her forehead and heads downstairs.

"You alright Jenny" asks Michelle
Yeah I am thank you.
"O come here" Michelle says as she hugs Jenny "that girl up there is lucky to have you".
Thanks, how are you anyway
"I'm good yeah, o and just to let you know Johnny's just changing a barrel" replies a rather happy Chelle.
"I'm back" Johnny bursts through the doors holding a beautiful bouquet of flowers. "I thought you would still be upstairs" he looks at Jenny rather puzzled
Why would you have come in a bit quieter then she gazes into his eyes and giggles.
Walking towards the bar he hands Jenny the flowers "A gorgeous bouquet for my gorgeous wife"
"O you really have gone soft" Michelle giggles
"Thanks for that Chelle"
She's not wrong Jenny pipes in.
O and look at the time, Chelle do you wanna go and we'll lock up?
"Yeah ok I if your sure"
Course
"Ok bye love you both"
"Love you to Chelle, I'm just going to change the barrel Jen" Johnny says as he slides out of their hug.
Ok I'll finish up here then, I'm probably gonna go straight to bed.
"Alright my love, but I think we should talk"
About what
"Things"
And these things can't wait till tomorrow ay
"I would rather they didn't but ok"
After getting everything ready for tomorrow Jenny slowly headed up for bed feeling more tired than ever.
How long does it take to change the barrels, I've cleaned, cashed up and put the dishwasher on and he's still barrel changing.
After contemplating a bit, Jenny slowly wandered to the barrel store watching for every step.
Knock knock
Johnny you ok down there
Silence a dark, eerie silence filled the room like a spirit
Crash
"Johnny" screamed Jenny running down the stairs in heels is never easy but she did it
Are you ok?
"Hey love I'm fine" he beamed.
You had me going for a minute there. Look let's go upstairs and just head to bed I think we can both do with an early-ish night.
"Ok fine and we talk tomorrow"
I really need to know what we are going to talk about because it's making me so scared
"No love it's all good and nothing to worry about I promise, but how let's head upstairs" said a reassuring Johnny
