When Gilbert arrived at Green Gables, he walked in Anne's room to see her curled up in a ball on the floor sobbing. He dropped to his knees, picked her up and sat her on his lap. "Shh it's ok shh" he soothed while rubbing her back, "Why m-me why am I so ugly, w-why Gilbert?" Anne asked while look up at Gilbert. His heart broke for her, "Anne Shirley- Cuthbert why would you ever say that you are beautiful inside and out!" Anne sat up and smiled, "Thank you no one has ever said that to me." Gilbert smiled and blushed. "Why don't we go and get ice-cream to get you mind off of things?" He suggested. "Yes please!!" Gilbert picked Anne up off of him and stood up,"Shall we?" He asked with his hand held out. "We shall." Anne answered and grabbed his hand.
