A pink haired girl woke up on a hard, cold bed, she looked around the room she had been staying in, that dark, lifeless room that had been her world for three months, a cage that no brute force or genius plan would get her out of.

The girl sighed, she was used to it by now, and she was tired of disappointing herself by thinking every night before falling asleep in tears that it was all just a nightmare. It wasn't worth it to be hopeful anymore.

With slow, emotionless steps she got to the bathroom, and prepared herself for another meaningless and painful day. She looked at herself into the mirror, her eyes, that had once sparkled with joy and would inspire others to do their best, were now nothing but pink lifeless puddles, full of pain masked with nothingness.

She came out of the bathroom fully dressed, and then a loud knock was heard on her door, and before she could even go and open it, a tall, black haired woman had come into her room, "Good morning, Remi, have you finished to change yourself?" Asked the woman, trying to make a question that might come off as normal, but her stone cold voice and glare made it clear that it was nothing more than courtesy from one high-tier to another.

"Good morning, ma'am, and yes, I am." Said Remi, who couldn't get herself to look at the woman in the eyes, just like every other time, first out of hatred, then out of fear, but now, it was for nothing more than to follow a routine.

"Excellent, there is something very important that must be discussed with you today, please follow me." Said the woman, and Remi did as told, her head low and empty of thoughts, almost willing to count the seconds until she could go back to sleep.

After a couple of minutes of walking around the government facility she had been staying at while receiving her "reeducation", they arrived at a quite area of the building, and soon were in front a fancy brown door, which the woman opened, leading them into an office, were a tall man with dark, red hair and menacing eyes waited for her.

"It is nice to see you, Remi, how has your stay here been?" He asked, although he didn't wait for a response before he started talking again, wanting to quickly get to the point, "As you know, this whole process was necessary for you to integrate back into society, we couldn't allow such a talented young woman to waste her talent away babysitting low-tiers in the streets as a vigilante, you understand this was for your own good, right?" Asked the man, his facial expression told her that there was only one correct answer.

No, you're just as worthless as all the other people that work for the stupid authorities, don't try to tell me you care about me, asshole... "Of course. You guys are the authorities, no way you would something that wasn't for my own safety." Remi said, her eyes were a mix of pure hatred and utter pessimism, not even having enough energy to give him a piece of his mind. What she said was so different from what she actually thought that it made her feel disgusting, but she just wanted that situation to be over as soon as possible.

The man raised an eyebrow, he had seen easily through her obvious lie. But something else was just as obvious. Remi was defeated, she would stay in place, no matter how much she hated it, and he knew it.

The woman cleared her throat to gain the man's attention, and the man nodded at her, signaling her to talk, "Mr. Keon, I think Remi has given more than satisfactory results, just as you said after reading her report, shall I start making preparations for her going back to school?" Asked the woman.

Keon closed his eyes for a second, just to think. This girl... She's quite the high-tier, and with her ability she could easily gain influence anywhere she got into as an adult, since she'll probably be a god-tier by the time she's out of school... Maybe it's best letting her go now, but first I will need to check something.

Remi had started to play with her hands, slightly nervous now, knowing she might get out of there, depending on the man's decision. So I finally might be out... What would I even do back at school? Remi though to herself, but there was no more time to think, Keon was about to speak.

"Remi, before we can let you go, I need to make sure that you are not going to do anything... Reckless. And so, I will ask one last question, are you planning on acting on the message of that book, Unordinary?" Keon asked, this was one the one question in which he would not allow any lies, this was the reason Remi was there anyways, she was caught reading that forbidden book, and just like many, she was punished for it.

To his surprise, the pink haired girl simply sighed and shook her head, "I truly don't, sir, it's quite the stupid concept, don't you think? Everyone treating each other with respect and kindness... That's not how the world works." After all, why did this happen to me if it was possible to get along?

The man could see no fault in what she said, she was being sincere, and that's what he wanted, so he smiled, not a kind, gentle smile, but a ruthless one that could only come from someone as heartless as him, "Perfect, don't worry now, Remi, we'll make sure you're back at the Wellstone dorms tomorrow." Keon said and gave a short glance to the black haired woman, who simply nodded and left, "Now, keep that mindset while there, you have talent, so use it, ok?" Remi nodded, although he knew that was a lie. The girl was too broken for that.

After a brief moment, Keon signaled her the door, and she quietly left the office and went back to her room.

The next day she would be back. Back to her life, back to her peers, back to Isen, back to Blyke, back to Arlo, but deep inside she knew that she wasn't going back, not fully.

The Remi that had once lived there at Wellstone would never be back. She was dead. This hollow, broken shell was her replacement, and she knew it would never, ever, be the same.
