Prologue: Creating Life From A Single Spark (2023)

December 30th, 2030. Audio Log 45. M3 Project. Dr. Moon present, and Dr. Kodiak present. 

"Kodiak, must you input that each time?"

"Yes, of course, I must; how else would we document the birth of new life?"

"You keep saying this, but I've seen no improvements with our methods."

"Moon, you must have more faith."

"Faith, Kodiak? The last time I had faith in you was when I gave you this grant to work on the project, yet we've had no progress."

"We've had some progress; it finally accepted the code."

"That was seven logs ago!"

"Are you in a rush, Moon?" There's a hint of malice in Kodiak's voice.

"No, Kodiak, I'm just defeated. I thought we'd have more by now."

"The M3 project has been our life, I understand. We cannot give up; however, we've come too far."

"I know."

"Moon, just remember how much this will change the course of history tenfold."

"I know, Kodiak; I can't help but feel discouraged."

"This is worth it, my dear."

"I just wish we could get this stupid TV box head thing to work!" The noise of a bang on plastic is heard.

"MOON! Watch out; it's an antique! Wait, do it again." 

"Why? You just said it was an antique."

"I thought I saw something Moon, do it again."

Another bang is heard.

"Kodiak?"

"I saw Moon."

"It sparked."

"Was that life?"

"Seemed so."

"Moon, check its power input."

"It is at 30%."

"Up it to 50."

"Kodiak, that could blow a fuse!"

"Do it." The ticking of a knob can be heard.

"Okay, it's now pushing 50."

"Oh, come on, little guy, just turn on." Another bang is heard, and then what sounds like a start-up sound.

"MOON! IT WORKED!"

"WHAT?"

After that day, the M3 Corporation started. Kodiak went on to build the M3 Medical Units the world knows as the first of its kind. Eventually, Moon and Kodiak came up with an idea to make the units more human; they first gave them personalities. There were Hotheads, Extroverts, Introverts, Hermits, etc. Then feelings came next, then human disorders and illnesses. Then came the general discrimination against androids and the constant riots. This story follows a particular M3 Unit, which will change the course of history forever. Welcome to 2065.
