"Zero has just landed at Esther Field, your private airstrip. He will now be directed via robot assistants to a helicopter to be flown here. Expect his presence in ten minutes."
The cheery voiced robot butler announced. In response, Nano sat up from his reclining chair and meandered over to his wall mounted computer terminal.
"How's the module doing? What percentile are we at?"
"Sixty percent sir."
He paused and stared at the ceiling.
"What? How did we lose five percent since yesterday?"
"Degradation sir."
Nano tried to flip his desk, even though it was holographic. Which looked as ridiculous as it sounded.
"What the hell! Your telling me that refined Kymond degrades within days? That's impossible!"
"Sir I've run every possible scenario and looked over every sheet of data from your father. It seems he too was trying to figure out how to stop it."
The faint sound of helicopter blades reverberated in the room, Nano walked over to the large windows and saw his sleek blue and black helicopter land onto his extended helipad. The side doors opened and Zero stepped off while carrying an unconscious man in a dark tactical looking suit.
"Is the module ready?" Zero walked through the second pair of sliding doors into Nano's main lobby. Nano nodded and followed him as he went into the elevator. When they arrived at the containment floor they entered the room housing the module. A room the size of a shipping container coated in green Kymond. Computers and monitor systems lined the walls in the room. As well as four automatic M2 turrets placed in each corner, constantly scanning the room. Zero rushed through the air lock and placed the man on the floor of the module. Once he was back out he took a long sigh of relief.
"So what is he?" Nano asked.
"He's fast, very, very, fast."
Nano nervously scratched his head,
"Well I should warn you that the module is only at sixty percent."
"It's what?" Zero's face was that of pure horror, in response he rushed over to the nearest wall panel.
"Give me the twelve!"
The wall panel opened and a metal shelf extended out with an automatic AA12 shotgun modified with a muzzle break, foregrip, Eotech sight, and drum mag. It was the whole package. Zero racked the slide and stepped into the module, his timing couldn't have been better because the unconscious man was just starting to wake up. As his eyes opened and he slowly stood up, Zero firmly shouldered his automatic shotgun and prepared for a fight.
"Don't try anything, this room dampens powers in Types. We're both normal, average joes now."
"So you don't have your annoying invisibility powers, good to know." He rubbed his head and started to pace back and forth. From his years of experience in various militaries, Zero could tell exactly what he was doing. Gathering intel; his eyes darted between the turrets outside the module and the various terminals scattered around.
"What's your name?" Zero tried to garner his attention again.
"I would have killed Rai-Ki if not for you!" The man slammed his fist against the metal wall in an unprecedent act of rage, Zero flinched and tightened his grip.
"I could say the same to you! If you were only a few milliseconds slower on that street, his head would have been scattered across the pavement."
Zero's earpiece clicked to signify an incoming communication, it was Nano from outside the module.
"Hey Zero, I just figured out who this guy is. He goes by the name Velocity, turns out he's out hunting for the World Eater as well. Talk some sense into him, maybe he can help us."
Zero nodded to Nano through the window.
"Velocity... So that's who you are."
Velocity took a step forward,
"You don't know me." His words came out in a low growl. Although Zero kept pressing, this time with more intel given to him from Nano.
"So you're on the hunt to kill the World Eater, same as us. So why are we fighting, Velocity?"
"World Eater?" Velocity was clearly disconcerted by the name, so Zero elected to "pour salt in the wound" so to speak.
"Summer of twenty sixteen, you had just got home from Muay Thai lessons. You thought your mom would be right where she always was, cooking you a nice and warm dinner. Instead-."
"Shut up!" Velocity resumed his aggression real quick. Zero was getting to him.
"-Instead you found her body sliced in two-."
"I said shut up!" Velocity screamed as he ran full force towards Zero who simple flipped the gun around and slammed the stock square into his face. Velocity stumbled backwards to his side of the module, but ultimately resumed his posture. Zero flicked off the safety, giving an audible "click." In an effort to warn Velocity that the next time he attacks, it wont be a gun butt to the face.
"I get it, you want a response... So here's one. I found my mother dead on the floor, just like I had found the other bodies. This maniac is a threat to us all, and he's not the World Eater... His name is Reaper."
Zero nearly dropped his weapon, Nano spat out his water, and the AI started speaking over the intercom.
"Code word Reaper detected. Alert! Alert! Initiating Reaper class lock down."
The alarms that followed sounded made it seem like a nuke was about to drop, they could hear loud banging and hydraulic whirring coming from all throughout the tower. Eventually the door to the containment floor slammed shut, and large sections of the walls opened to allow the Sentinels to protect them. Sentinels were large brute sized robots with the firepower of an AC-130 gunship. 105mm cannon and all. The large robots marched around the room, and spoke in low frequency's which sounded like growling to everyone else. They were scary to say the least.
"I don't see any Void activity on the radar!" Nano called out to Zero.
"Nano get your ass in the module!" Was his response.
"No! Someone has to be on the lookout for him!"
"Hey what the hell is happening?" Velocity grabbed Zero on the shoulder to get his attention. Even he was a little intimidated.
"You said his name... You know he can hear his name right? Now he's going to come here and kill us!" Zero shoved him back.
"Shit! You gotta' get me my powers back, I can take him with my powers!"
Zero turned around to face him,
"Are you crazy? No you cant! We stay here where it's safe. The module is the only place he can't teleport."
Nano kept scanning with every method they had used in the past to track him, nothing was giving any indication of his arrival. Maybe they were lucky, maybe he just wasn't listening for his name. Only time would tell.
An hour went by before Nano decided they were in the clear, he gave the all clear order and the reinforced nuclear grade reinforced doors retracted and the Sentinels went back into their dormant state. The module doors hissed as Zero left and approached Nano.
"Are you certain?
Nano nodded and turned his attention back to Velocity,
"Now for him, you think he'll help us?"
Zero looked back into the module, and saw Velocity throwing knives at the walls. Every throw was executed with pin point accuracy.
"How the hell did he get knives?" Nano went for the "sleep switch." Which would fill the module with enough Penthrane to successfully knock out a Type. Except Zero stopped him,
"He's had those this whole time, he just never used them on me."
"Tell you what Zero, go find Mag... Bring her back. I have a few ideas on the World Eater and how we can finally stop him."
