(This is so self indulgent I literally just wanted them to cuddle and to describe Sebastian as soft and have Jim be so absolutely adoring and loving-)

Despite the smell of cigarettes and gun oil wafting from the man, it was a comfort. It was so absolutely suiting to him as well. The warmth from his bare skin felt softer than silk despite everything. It was rare for Sebastian to be shirtless at night, the blankets being too rough on his chest. That was fixed easily. New blankets, new sheets. He complained about it but it was brushed off. Despite claiming it was unrelated to the sniper's discomfort and that Jim just wanted something new, it was absolutely for Sebastian. Almost everything was for Sebastian.

He deserved the world.

A callused hand tenderly touched the back of Jim's neck, playing with the damp strands of hair. Even still, he was soft. Those hands had done such dirty things, had dirty things done to them, yet they always were so gentle whenever giving loving touches. Jim rested a hand over Sebastian's heart, feeling the beat under his hand. The raised skin from the stripes down his chest were such a familiar feeling. He waited for the sniper's reaction; was it okay to touch the large scars or not? There was a little peaceful hum, sounding rather sleepy.

Jim kept his hand there, wondering if their heartbeats was in sync. He wanted them to be, to have every beat be matching with his partner's. Besides the beating heart under his hand, the rise and fall from every breath was beautiful despite that it was such a simple human necessity. The Irishman exhaled all the air within his lungs and waited until Sebastian inhaled before doing so himself. He may not have their beating heart in sync but breathing was possible. An amused grunt rumbled from the half asleep man, somehow still noticing things despite drifting asleep.

He used to hate that, but now it was so utterly adored. Sebastian would notice the smallest things about Jim. It wasn't obsession driven observations; every little detail that the sniper knew was simply love driven perceptions. The man would often say that every time he noticed something new about Jim, he'd fall deeper in love. It was ridiculous to hear at first. Jim thought it was annoying that useless things were noticed about him but it became something nice. It became something that gave him baths with the perfect temperature, brands of food or drink he preferred, playlists made with music that was within his taste...

What was once disgustingly sentimental and useless became the complete opposite of those old feelings. Jim adored it now, everyday curious about what Sebastian would know about him that the Irishman didn't know about himself. It was the smallest gesture of affection the taller showed but it was likely the favorite one.

Jim looked at Sebastian's sleeping face. He looked...peaceful. It was quite rare for the man to be at peace but when he was, it was utterly beautiful. His jaw would unclench, his eyes wouldn't look about the room with a wary demeanor, his shoulders would sink to a relaxed position...it was gorgeous. The sniper took his job of also protecting Jim seriously; he used to brag about how he could use anything within the room as a weapon if need be. Maybe that was out of his protective nature, or maybe it was just Sebastian being a dedicated employee. Either way, both sides were appreciated. Perhaps the peaceful side was slightly more preferred.

Life had been so cruel to Sebastian. He deserved to have moments of peace, moments where he could be soft and have the same amount of compassion shown back. Jim yearned for the ability to give his partner a life that would let him live like that. But despite all his power, he couldn't do that. Besides, a life like that wouldn't please Sebastian. The man obviously enjoyed the times where things were calm, but he also enjoyed the rush that chaos gave. The rush that only came from pulling the trigger on a gun or landing a punch to someone's face.

Sebastian didn't just deserve the world, he deserved the whole universe, with all its unknown and known wonders.
