RPOV
Three years had now passed. Christian and I had a nice, two story beach house in Florida. I was teaching self-defence classes at the local gym. Christian was taking college classes online.Oh, and I should mention, we are in a relationship. Shocker, I know. But it just made sense. We'd both helped each other to heal. Falling for the other in the process. It wasn't the all consuming love that had led us to have our hearts broken time and again. But it was more than sibling love. It was what we needed and what we wanted. It allowed us to be together without running the risk of a broken heart.
I'd had Christian teach me how to cook, and tonight was my turn to cook dinner. That exactly what I was doing when I felt loving arms snake around my waist from behind.
"You have no clue how hot you look when you cook, Rosie," Christian whispered in my ear.
"You have no clue how hot you are when you use your magic, Chrissie." I spun in his arms and pulled him into a kiss."Have you ever thought about a family, Rose? Marriage, kids?" a curious Christian asked. I was still wrapped in him, his hands rubbing circles into my hips, while I cooked.
"As in ours?"
"Yeah, or in general."
"Yeah, I have thought about it." I seriously had. With Christian, we were it could be an easy to get along with and fun relationship, or it could be one where we made ourselves vulnerable to the other. We could, when we chose, see into each other's souls because our characters and experiences were just so similar.
"And?" he gently prompted.Surprisingly enough, he was better than Him at calming down and preventing a darkness incident. Now was one of those times he was working to help me keep it behind my mental wall. Our relationship was such that there was never any stimulus to make me even more unstable than the darkness was already trying to do.
"If you ever grow a pair and get down on one knee and present me a ring, my answer will be yes. I will marry you if you ask. And yes, I do want our kids," I said with a smile.
"I love you, Rosie. Thank you," he spun me in his arms and pulled me into his chest. One arm held me in place and the other turned the stove and oven off.
"Oh, Chrissie!" I teased. "I know what you're doing!"
"That did it!" he chuckled. His lips came down on mine and the world disappeared.5 weeks later:
Christian'sPOV
I was startled awake by my Rosie bolting out of bed. One time that name would have irritated her, but now it was a term of endearment. Anyway, the woman I love had run for the bathroom and was bent over the toilet. Last nights dinner made a reappearance while I sat next to her, rubbing soothing circles on her back."Rosie? Are you okay?" I asked gently when I was certain Rose could respond.
"Yeah, I am."
"Don't bullshit me Rose," came my snarky yet sensitive response.
"Chris, if my suspicions are right-"
"And they usually are-"
"You're gonna have to get used to this!" she teased with an excited smirk.
It clicked. "Do that test, love. Just so we know for sure." I pecked her cheek. "I'll make breakfast. I love you, Rosie."
"I love you, Chrissie."I never saw her as melted as when she told me that. Not even Belikov had ever brought that look onto her face and into her eyes. We might not be in love with each other in the way we'd been with Them. But we were in love enough to take this step, to build a family, our family. We loved each other in way that supported and understood the other, but not so blinded by it that it would get us killed nor would it tare up our hearts.
