Sam's (POV)

After about an hour and a half of training, I take a quick shower and change into clean clothes, a sad sigh escaping my lips in the process. Being an only child and being alone for most of your life can really take a toll on people sometimes.

"Maybe today will be different, maybe today... My fate will change." I forcefully smile at myself in the mirror, barely believing my own words.

With a sigh, I head on over to the kitchen to make myself something for lunch. Which was a simple peanut butter sandwhich with green apple slices and water. I look at the time and notice that it's 6:45AM. I quickly clean up the mess I had, head up stairs, grab my backpack, helmet, side purse, phone, phone charger and head to the garage.

I put my helmet on as the garage door opened. When it opened, I hop on my Mountain bike, close the garage door once I was out of the house and start driving to school. My Mountain bike is black with green flames, I don't know why I chose that design when I first got it, but kept it like that ever since.

My eyes begin to flutter close, seeing as I didn't get much sleep last night, but I try to fight the tiredness off.

"Samantha..." I jumped after hearing someone call my name and frantically look around to see where the voice came from.

This caused me to swerve towards the canal and lose control of my bike. I pulled the brakes, but I did that as I was going down hill, which led me to fall off my bike and roll downhill.

"Ugh..." I push myself up, only to hiss in pain and see that I had scraped my palms on the way down.

I went to touch my forehead for any injuries, but I flinch when I feel another scrape on the right side of my forehead.

"I hope I still have some wet wipes in my purse." I mumbled as I dig through the hord of a mess inside my purse.

Smiling after finding it, I gently clean the scratches before applying bandaids. I was in a bit of a hurry, so I didn't bother with putting a bandaid on the scratch on my forehead, not to mention that I used the last two bandaids I had to cover the scratches on my palm.

A shiver runs down my spine as I feel as though someone's watching me, but I just shrug it off as nothing and continue to clean myself off. After dusting my pants, I look around for my bike, hoping that it didn't get damaged on the way down.

"Samantha..." I jump at the sound of someone saying my name.

I scan the area around me to find the source of that voice, but became confused when I saw no one.

"Maybe I was just hearing things." I mumbled.

"Samantha..."

"One means nothing, twice means coincidence, and three-"

"Samantha..." Three times means that something's going on.

With my guard up, I carefully examine my surroundings, and that's when a small glimpse of light caught my eye. Curious, I walk towards it, lowering my guard a little. The light seemed to be coming from the pile of rocks.

"I have a feeling that these rocks are the remains of something..." With a hiss in pain, I kneel down in front of the pile of rocks.

"I am unsure if I am disturbing you, and I deeply apologize if I am. But there is something in your pile of hardened remains that seems to be literally calling me. May I look through and take it? I promise to be careful!" A gust of wind brushes by me when I heard a quite whisper.

"Go ahead." I heard.

"Normal" people would be freaking out and just leave, but I'm not normal. With a small smile, I carefully remove the rocks one by one, until I find what looks to be some kind of amulet.

"Beautiful..." I whispered.

I jumped when I heard the tardy bell rang.

"Shit, I'm late for class!" I quickly get up, stuff the amulet in my side purse, get on my bike before mumbling a quick apology for my sudden departure.

I pedal my bike as fast as I can to school, the last thing I needed was for my dad to hear that I was late for school. I didn't want him to be more worried about me than he already is. My right knee starts to cramp up from how fast I was pedaling, but I ignore it for the time being.

"I should REALLY be getting those knee exercises done." It's been a while since I had dislocated my right knee, but hurts when I put too much pressure on it.
