The first time.

It was the beginning of the year. Summer had ended, and hell was starting. I had recently come out of the closet as bisexual, only to myself and a few Internet friends and so I wasn't ready to tell anyone else.

The train was delayed, of course. First day back to school and this would happen to me. My mother scolded me for getting up later than she had wanted, while I payed no attention.

My brother stood there at the yellow line right in front of the tracks, and I watched as he kicked various things into the track.

"Are you listening to me, Kate?" My mother waved her hands in front of my face. I unplugged one of my earphones and shrugged at her. She sighs and turns away, pulling my brother away from the tracks and yelling at him for being so stupid.

I plug my earphone back in and continue to listen to my music. Ed Sheerans soothing voice flows through my ears and I smile, he makes me happy.

Finally, the train arrives, full of people. I adjust my hair before stepping inside the air conditioned but stuffy cart while busy people stuck their nose up at me and turned away.

"Excuse me." I say quietly, attempting to push through the crowd of people. I turn around as I hear someone cuss quietly at me. "The fuck did you just say?" I say quietly, as so only people who were paying attention could hear. "Nothing, have a seat." A tall man with black shiny hair and a suit says,

"Exactly." I say and sit down, pulling my bag off of my shoulder and onto my lap. My phone vibrates in my pocket but I refuse to take it out and let people know my business in this train.

It vibrates again, and again, and again. The person next to me must think I'm insane, or freaky, or both.

I finally pull it out and answer. "Yeah?" I ask into the phone. I don't have anyone from schools number, and they don't have mine. Plus, all my Internet friends live in way different time zones so they are probably all asleep.

"Kate, is it?" A strong female voice plays through the speaker. "Uh, yeah. Who is this?" I ask, flipping through options as to who it may be in my head. "You don't have many friends, am I right?" She asks. "I'll take your silence as a yes, well I'm Elisha. I'm your new friend, I'll be in your first period class." She says and the call ends.

What the fuck?

She didn't sound like a 8th grader to me, more like a senior, or something close to that.

Oh well, must be a prank of some sort. Ha ha, I fell for it.

I adjust my shirt collar while looking in the black window of the train, and the person opposite me stares awkwardly at me. I turn around after feeling her gaze for several minutes.

"Do you want something?" I ask, facing her. "Your skirt is messed up..." She says, holding in her laugh, her friends around her don't even bother. "Oh." I say and clear my throat.

"Next stop, 30th avenue." The boring attendant announces. My stop. I frown at my hands in my lap, I really don't want to go.

The train stops, right before my station, and of course is delayed again. My mother continues to stare hardly at me, and I smile sheepishly back at her.

"Mom you should call an tell them we'll be late." I tell her, but she does not say anything. "Okay." I roll my eyes and stand up, waiting for the train to start again and get to my station.

The train starts really quickly, and I am thrown half way across the train. The girls who laughed at me prior to this laughed once again, and as I stood up, I flipped them off and got off the train.

The walk from the train to my school is short, merely a few blocks, which lets me clear my head from the embarrassment on the train.

Outside of the school, right in front of the church, is an interesting looking girl. Her hair is a blonde-ginger, and I continue to look while walking. She's holding a cigarette to her mouth, and a few binders in the other. One leg is propped up against the back of the car while the other is crossed, and she's staring into the distance, admiring something apparently.

I turn my head and continue walking. I shall have to find her later and snap a quick picture, as she looks beautiful and I funnily find myself attracted to this girl.

I enter the school and request a schedule. My first period class is physical science on the third floor, which is also where my lockers are.

"Kate! Hey good morning how was your break? What exactly did you do? Well not exactly because I know you went on vacation in Greece, but what did you do?" An annoying yet familiar voice comes from behind me. I roll my eyes and prepare myself for a lecture.

George stands there, binders in his arms and glasses propped on the tip of his nose. His pants are clearly too tight, and shirt is too loose. His shoes are knockoffs and bulky.

"Well, we're going to be late to class, lets go" he sighs and places one hand on my back. I move away from his touch and smile innocently. "I'll be up in a minute, I just have girl things to do" I say and go inside the closest girls bathroom before hearing his reply.

The mirrors are new, but already smudged from small children's hands and water droplets.

"You again, huh?" A voice from the corner of the bathroom says. The girl from outside is leaning against the wall and has her phone in one hand. "Ha yeah, coincidence right?" I say and wash my hands.

"Guess you could say that, I'm Elisha, and you're Kate." She says and I gasp, turning towards her.

She's smiling at me and searching my eyes for emotion. "You're the one who called me this morning in the train!" I say.

"Well duh, who else do you know named Elisha." She says, shoving her phone in her pocket.

"Well, much as I'd love to stay and chat, I can't. See you later, Kate."
