Well, shit.

The day drags on and on, but finally pulls to an end. The last bell rings as everyone wrestles past each other to get out.

I carefully pack my books and wait for the people to clear. Elisha is standing with her back against my locker and her head buried in a book.

The book she holds has no title, but an author name and that's it. I can't read it, not from here. I have all the books I need, but I'm curious about the book, so I decide to go to my locker anyway.

I clear my throat slightly and she looks up. "Oh yeah, I moved my locker next to yours." She says, reverting her eyes back to her book, uninterested in anything I have to say about that.

"But you're in 10th grade, isn't your locker on the second floor?" I ask, pulling my locker open. "Sure, but I like it here. Sure, judgmental bitches are everywhere but these guys pay me no attention," she says nodding her head to the biggest bitch in my class. "When you're finished, come find me in the library, stuff to talk about." She says and quickly walks off before I can argue.

I sigh. What does she want with me? Why is she so kind, wait no that's not the right word. Why is she so interested in me, what have I done. I'm no one special, never have been and never will be.

My bag is heavier than it usually is and so I leave it inside my locker, I'll have to get it later.

"Hey Kate, wanna walk to the store with me?" Eva asks. "No, I can't I'm sorry. I have something I need to do" I say. She smiles and walks off. She's always been nice to me, and I've always viewed her as attractive, but too innocent to be interested.

The library is a few floors down and I'm in no hurry, so I pull my earphones out of my pocket and put them in my ears. Volume all the way up. The first song that comes on is a favorite. "Keep Myself Alive" by Get Scared.

"HEY! LEAVE ME ALONE" I hear over the intensity of my music. I glance up the stairs, and a few of the ninth graders are shoving George into the wall and laughing.

"Leave him alone, what has he ever done to you?" I say while casually turning and going up a few stairs. "Fuck off, British bitch." The taller one says. George stares at me pleading for help, but I can't. There are three of them that overpower me by probably more than 70 pounds.

I quickly run down the stairs and to the library. My music continues to play through the earphone that still remains down by my side.

As soon as I step through the door I feel a hand around my waist and one on my collar pulling me into the small office that is hidden from the rest of the library.

"What the-" I am stopped by lips on mine. I'm confused, but these lips invite me to continue. I do not know who it is, and I don't dare open my eyes. It's a girl, definitely. And the lips are warm and soft.

When she stops, she laughs and I can feel her move back a little. I can instantly recognize the laugh. "Elisha? But why" I said, still trying to understand what just happened.

"Like I said, I have something to tell you." She says "that was-" I try to ask "shh, someone's coming." She puts her hand over my mouth and over my hand. Someone steps into the room, but it is too dark to see that me and Elisha were huddled in the corner. The person grunts and shuts the door behind them.

Elisha moves her hand from mine and steps towards the door, trying the handle. It's locked. She slams her hands across the door.

"Well that was close..." I say, not fully grasping the situation. Elisha sighs, turns the light on, and slides her back down the door, crashing onto the ground with her knees to her chest. I repeat this action.

What am I going to do now, trapped in a room with this girl that just kissed me, and confuses the hell out of me. Elisha looks up at me while biting her bottom lip.

I grit my teeth. "Don't do that." I say, as her beautiful eyes glisten.

She smirks. "Don't do what?" She asks and bites her lip again when I don't answer. I move my eyes to somewhere else. The spare books neatly stacked up to one side are neatly organized.

Elisha murmurs something to herself while pulling her phone out. "Damn it" she says while throwing her phone at the books. The back falls off.

"What the fuck do we do without wifi in here, or any sort of connection to call." She says, looking around for a way to escape.

I shrug and search my pockets for my phone. My eyes widen as I realize what I've done. "What? What have you done...." Elisha asks crawling towards me. "I left my phone in my bag which is sort of upstairs." She sighs and sits with her back against the wall and her arm almost on top of mine.

I feel electricity shoot up and down my arm just as it did when I realized that it was her who was kissing me with her arm around my waist and one grasping my collar and pulling me closer to her.

"What are you thinking about?" She asks while leaning her head on my shoulder. "Honestly?" I ask. "Mhmm" she murmurs and I wonder if I should tell her that I'm thinking about the way I felt when she held me close.

"You." I decide. I can feel her smile and it makes me smile.

The door handle rattles and the dean walks in, his suit jacket perfectly clean and broad shoulders barely fitting through the door. "Both of you, up and with me, now." He says and walks back to his office.

"Shit..." I say, standing and helping her stand. "Don't say anything, let me speak. If he asks you something, just go along with what I'm saying" she says and holds my wrist in her hand, pulling me behind her as she walks.
