Hello kind sir, ma'am, unspecified gender, or nonbinary being. I'm back with some shit. Take it.
Mom made me go shopping with her a few weeks after my birthday. We were going to a wedding- my second cousin twice removed or something.
She was going to pick out "the cutest little suit" for me. While she did that, I wandered off to look at dresses. I grabbed a few of them and went to try them on. Maybe if I could find one that fit, Mom would let me wear it to the wedding. Or at least let me buy it.
I went into the dressing room with a total of 7 dresses. I slipped out of my hoodie and pulled on the first dress.
Disgusting. It was orange, my least favorite color, and looked awful with my dark hair and pale skin. The next one was purple, the same shade as my hair. Not so good. White didn't work with my skin tone. Pink didn't look too bad, and neither did blue, so I set those aside. I had just decided yellow was an absolute no when someone kicked my paint-splattered combat boot.
"What are you doing in there, Killua?" my mom asked.
"Hang on." I slipped the black dress on over my head. It looked really good. It was definitely my favorite. I stepped out.
"What do you think?"
Mom almost dropped the suits she was holding. "Get back in there and take that off! What if someone sees you?"
I was disappointed. As a matter of fact, someone had seen me. A girl my age, with long black hair and black eyes. She saw me wearing the dress, and she smiled and waved. I looked around, trying to see who she had been waving to. She giggled and waved again, and then my mom shoved me back into the dressing room.
As I was changing out of the dress, I heard the girl. "Hello, ma'am," she said to my mother.
"Hello." My mother spoke only out of politeness.
"Um, I just wanted to... Um, if that was your daughter, can you tell her I thought she looked really pretty?"
The girl ran away.
I thought about it. The words daughter, she. They felt right.
By the way the wedding is unimportant it only exists because I needed a reason for her to be at the store. So it will never be mentioned again. XD
