King Ingvan loved his wife, Polia, loved her to the extent that he killed women who would throw themselves at him--trying to show his dear Polia how much he loved her. But eventually Polia grew tired of her husband killing these women and tried to reason with him, pleaded that she did not care that those women threw themselves at him. King Ingvan took this as his wife being unfaithful, thinking that if she loved him, she would be as angry about these women as he was. King Ingvan flew into a rage and killed his dear Polia. Instantly regretting his decision, he summoned the lord of the Necromancers, Cedric Moonegrove. Lord Cedric tried to explain that bringing her back from the dead will alter her soul but King Ingvan would not listen and demanded that it be done.
Lord Cedric worked tirelessly, trying all of the spells he knew to try to bring the queen back. But the king was not happy, and asked Lord Tobias Ravathana--a young elven lord--to help hurry this process along. Lord Tobias had no idea what dark magic was, being just a young elf at the time, he had not even perfected his magic. Lord Cedric and Lord Tobias bumped heads a few times, mainly because they were both frustrated with getting no answers for their impossible task. Lord Cedric turned to the council of necromancers, but they did not like this idea and refused to help Cedric by telling him it was easier to sell a soul than bring back a fae queen.
Lord Cedric felt defeated, he was partnered with a young one and was receiving no help from anyone. He had been pouring so much of his magic into this task, that he was nearly on empty, so he did a risky thing and turned to a powerful sorcerer. Lord Tobias begrudgingly followed Lord Cedric to the sorcerer's home, not fully knowing the extent of what was going to happen.
The sorcerer was mad, he ran around the shack babbling to himself as he did so. Lord Cedric explained their predicament, trying to get the sorcerer to listen but all he did was toss a heavy book to them and push the pair out of his shack. Lord Tobias was very skeptical about this large book, seeing as it only had the words 'Dark Magic' on the front of it.
But Lord Cedric was exasperated, feeling as though he would be the next on King Ingvan's wanted list. Over the next few weeks, Lord Cedric poured himself into the book, learning the spells quickly.
A week after this, Lord Cedric told Lord Tobias of the plan and Lord Tobias agreed--he too was fed up with this ordeal. They presented it to the King, who was clearly going mad himself. He cried in happiness and clutched onto Lord Cedric's trousers as he begged for them to hurry and do the spell for he could not live without his dear Polia a second longer. Lord Cedric tried to explain that they needed to try this spell on an animal or a smaller fae to see if it would work, but the king pulled out a knife, and began to swing it madly.
Finally, they agreed and sent for the supplies needed for the spell. The magic needed for the spell was a great amount, almost more than Lord Cedric had. But the king was not up to wait. After a few long moments of setting up, they finally cast the spell.
The palace shook, parts of the ceiling fell on the three of them. There was a bright flash of light and when it finally stopped, Polia lay on the floor. King Ingvan ran to her, cradling her body in his arms as he wept. But the two lords could tell that this was not Polia.
The dark magic spell that had been used to bring her back altered her, bonding with her pure soul and turning it black. Polia managed to get the knife from King Ingvan and stab him in the heart. The two lords watched as Polia tossed his body off of her and get up from the floor. She left the throne room without a look in their direction, only turning to say that she would come back for them one day as well.
Polia disappeared from the world, Lord Cedric tried to track her down but was only met with rumors of a cruel woman who killed men in the dark of night who looked like King Ingvan.
You may be wondering what happened to the kingdom and who took the throne.
Ingvan had a son from before he was married to Polia, a son that didn't even want to be anywhere near the palace. After Ingvan's death, Nox was forced to take the throne since Polia had not given birth to any children. Ever since the murder of Ingvan, King Nox has been searching high and low for Polia, wanting to put an end to the horrid reputation that was given to the kingdom.
