𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐝 everyone buzzing with joy.
In the next few days, despite the increase in very impatient customers, staff were all smiles. It's been years since the last party at Port café, and everyone was looking forward to it.
Everyone except a certain suicide enthusiast.
Why celebrate parting ways? He had just gotten closer to his dog Chibiko again, and now he was going to leave him in a few days? Again? This was bullshit.
Atsushi, Dazai and Kunikida found themselves in front of the Port café again.
Just like the first time they came across the place.
The day before was their last shift before the Christmas party so they weren't there for work. After a few hours dozing by his desk, Dazai decided he had enough and dragged the other two along for something to eat.
He made up excuses along the way, since being hungry apparently wasn't reason enough to go, but all he really wanted was to see his red faced Chibiko before he had to say goodbye. He also wanted to hang out with Kunikida and Atsushi before they left too.
The door chime jingled, announcing their arrival. This time, a graceful, dark-haired girl escorted them to their table. It was Gin, and Atsushi couldn't decide whether she or her brother was better-looking.
Tachihara attended their table and jotted their orders down, for all three of them this time, and Atsushi didn't need to think about asking for just water.
Meanwhile, Dazai kept spacing out, then discreetly looking around for a glimpse of soft, red hair. He gave up after some time and slammed his face on the table, startling his two companions who had enjoyed his silence while it lasted.
"I'm so tired!!" The bandaged shit whined, crying comical tears.
Atsushi was frantic at the sight of a bruise on his mentor's head and waved his arms about because it would calm him down, eventually. Kunikida was rubbing his temples, trying to remove the throbbing tick mark that threatened to grow with the suicidal freak's antics. He was damn tired of Dazai and only agreed to come so he could have another Ristretto.
Dazai, limply draped on the table, sprung back to life at the smell of their food as it was brought over. His mouth watered at the strong, bittersweet aroma of coffee, eyes sparkled after having caught a whiff of fruity, dark chocolate cake. Like some magic spell, the three stopped whatever they were doing and forgot about everything else.
Dazai's disappointment, Kunikida's annoyance, and Atsushi's thoughts about Akutagawa disappeared as they dug in. Tachihara left as soon as he'd laid the last plate down, spooked by their awestruck looks.
