starting off strong, eh?
disclaimer !! : what i say here may be offensive to you, so if you're easily offended or know you will be upset by reading the first few bits, please click off. i don't want to start any arguments.
okay, now let's get into this wreck.
so i'd like to express my objection to "thin privilege",a concept that people have created where they believe that people who are slimmer and lighter in terms of weight are getting an unfair privilege or advantage over them.
now, i don't want to "attack" overweight or bigger sized people, because i know it is difficult to lose weight, and if you are trying to, please please do not resort to unhealthy means of doing so such as starving yourself or excessively exercising. i'm glad that you are trying to better yourself, but it is important to note that you have to do so in a healthy way.
for me, things go wrong when people are blaming others for their own problems. sure, being overweight is difficult and hard to change, but it is still something you can change. blaming other people who have decided to better themselves for your own lazy attitude isn't going to do anything.
instead of getting up and doing something to solve your problems, are you just going to sit there and lament about how "unfair" things are? are you just going to blame people who have decided to improve themselves?
people who are of a healthy weight are not just "lucky". yes, you can say that they have good genes or good metabolism, but nothing would happen if they didn't put in their own effort. they aren't just lucky, they put in effort and decided to turn into a better version of themselves. that's not disrespectful to overweight people in any way.
"thin privilege" isn't a thing, and being overweight shouldn't be normalized. it's not healthy and telling people that they're fine when they're overweight is just telling them that it's okay to be unhealthy and be eating yourself to an early grave.
again, i understand that losing weight and being overweight is a very difficult thing and a really tough situation, and i wish you all the best if you're going through that. however, i find people who go out of their way to blame other people for something that they can change is just unreasonable. again, i mean no offence to overweight people and i do not wish to start any arguments.
if you made it here, thank you for reading. if you have any thoughts, i'd love to see them, so please free to comment and let me know (even if they're different from mine) !
whew what a rant. that's all lol. see you when i get fired up about people on the internet again.
