"you two are still out here?"

chaewon spoke with a small yawn. "it's really late. you two should head to sleep,"

"we're just talking. it's been a while since we really spoke to each other, you know?" jinsoul responded, sitting criss-crossed on the sofa in the living room. sooyoung was also there, but she was sat normally.

"i get that. we've been way too busy recently," the blonde walked into the kitchen, turning the lights on. "mind if i join you? it's been a while since we last had a late night talk,"

"go ahead," sooyoung smiled at her. "while you're in there, can you grab me a cookie?"

"me too!"

the youngest obliged, grabbing three cookies from their cookie jar, knowing that vivi would wonder where they went in the morning. they could find some way to get out of trouble. she also got a mug and put some of her instant coffee powder in it, "what were you talking about?"

"nothing really," the oldest answered honestly, "just about tomorrows schedule,"

"the last thing that i wanna think about right now is work," she sighed, pouring water into her mug and stirring it, "i'm too tired for that,"

"why are you up at this hour?" jinsoul questioned. "and why are you drinking coffee-"

"nightmare. no point in going back to sleep,"

the brunette pouted and nodded a little, "care to talk about it?"

"i'd rather not think about it," chaewon walked over to the sofa with her coffee and cookies, "lets talk about something actually interesting."

"how are things going with hyejoo and yerim?" sooyoung asked, taking a bite into her cookie, "is it just me or are these cookies better than they were last time?"

"probably just been too long since last time," the blonde took a bite of hers, "but things are going fine. they get jealous sometimes- hyejoo especially- but we make it work. we've been trying to include her more so that she feels like a valued part of the relationship,"

"that's sweet of you," jinsoul smiled.

"i mean, we want it to be a healthy relationship. but what about you two? still going for lip?"

"mhm," sooyoung sighed, "we'd both wait for her for forever,"

"i might talk to her about going poly if she really doesn't want to choose," jinsoul finished off her cookie as soon as she finished talking, "i don't wanna make her choose if she doesn't want to,"

"yah, don't talk with your mouth full," sooyoung nagged, before returning her eyes to chaewon, "but i wouldn't mind it either. i guess we should talk to her about it tomorrow,"

"i'm sure she'll be fine with it," the blonde spoke. sooyoung and jinsoul took notice of the fact that she was looking down, seemingly focused on something that wasn't the topic of conversation, despite her responding perfectly fine. neither of them wanted to make her talk about it, though. "she really loves both of you. and i don't think she'd ever be able to choose,"

a small silence overtook the sofa, none of them saying a word.

"poly relationships are really hard to work through, though" chaewon broke the silence. "and i know you won't admit it now, but you two will really get jealous of each other. it'll tear you guys apart for a while. feeling conflicted because you shouldn't be feeling so mad at your best friend, but at the same time, you crave attention from your girlfriend. it's going to take a long time to get into a healthy relationship. it's practically impossible for the first year. you're going to have so many moments where you're set on breaking up. the love can only hold you three together so much. you'll need to be extra careful in a relationship with more than two people. if you three end up dating, then just know that communication will always be key. that applies to every relationship, but especially in one with three people. if you're ever feeling left out then tell them,"

"how did you, yerim, and hyejoo last?" jinsoul asked.

"you could've phrased that better," sooyoung looked at her best friend for a second.

"sorry," she gave an awkward smile, her hand rubbing the back of her neck, "i mean, poly relationships are hard, right? so, how do you make it work between so many people?"

"well, it was really difficult," chaewon sighed. "since hyejoo and i have been dating for so long and yerim only joined the relationship a year ago, hyejoo wasn't used to me sharing my attention with another person. and yerim felt out of place because she joined a relationship that had already gone on so long. so we faced a lot of problems there. mainly, what helped, was that they started hanging out with each other more. we go out together most often, but when it's just two, it's easy for the other to feel left out. we make sure that if we spend time with one, then we have to spend time with the other soon. we want to make it as balanced as possible,"

sooyoung thought for a moment, "hm. that's actually really good advice,"

"thanks, chae. we'll keep that in mind," jinsoul smiled at the youngest, "why are you the most mature out of the three of us?"

"i'm mature too!" sooyoung complained with a small pout.

"sooyoung, you're not fooling anyone," chaewon finally smiled for the first time after her nightmare.

"listen to chae- she knows what she's talking about," she reached across sooyoung to give chaewon a high five, which the youngest happily accepted.

"you two are mean," the oldest pouted. "all i do is give you guys love and affection and this is what i get in return,"

"sucks to be you, huh?" chaewon gave a small giggle.

the three continued talking until around five in the morning, when they all had accidentally fallen asleep in their conversation.

chaewon didn't have another nightmare.
