I wake up in the dead of the night, so I stand and sneak silently out of my dormitory and out the common room. I jog noiselessly up a few staircases until I get to the Gryffindor common room entrance. I say the password and climb through the portrait hole. Checking to make sure there is no one else in the room, I walk up a winding staircase to the girls dormitory and quietly open the girls' Prefects' room. I step inside and close the door silently. Sleeping soundlessly on the bed is Hermione, her hair wet from the shower.

I pull my hood over my head, so she won't be able to see me. Hermione turns over and her eyes open slowly. "Who's there?" She murmurs groggily. I don't say anything. Hermione looks up at me and sits up, reaching for her wand. "Who are you?" She demands, pointing her wand at me. "You already know who I am." I say, watching her stand. She steps towards me, reaching out for my hood. I quickly step back. "No." I say, but she steps forward again and lowers my hood before I can stop her.

"Draco?" She says, looking at me with curiosity. "What do you want?" She says. "Well, what I want I can't get." I respond hesitatingly. She's barely a foot away. I can feel her breath. She looks down, murmuring, "That is how life works, I guess." I tilt my head slightly. "Draco....Harry has a suspicion that you're a.....a Death Eater......are you?" She whispers, looking up at me. I nod, hanging my head in shame. "They made me. I.....I h-have to murder....D-Dumbledore.....or else they will kill me and my family......" Hermione shakes her head, nearly crying. "No....You mustn't! The boys and I can....can find a way to help...to get you away...." I laugh and shake my head.

"It won't work. I must do it." I say, silently happy that I'm talking to Hermione like an almost-normal person. She unexpectedly throws her arms around me, pressing her head into my chest. Startled, I hug her back, squeezing her tightly. She gently breaks out of my arms, blushing furiously. "I-I-" She starts, but I cut her off by lifting her head and kissing her gently, pleased to feel her kissing back. My hands find their way to her waist, her arms wrapping around my neck. I smile in the kiss, slowly breaking away and releasing her.

Hermione is blushing so furiously her entire face is red. She yawns, glancing outside to see that it's still dark. "Come here." I murmur, walking over to a corner of her room and sitting on the floor. She follows me, sitting next to me and curling into my arms. She soon falls asleep, pressed against me. I watch her as she sleeps, smiling to myself. Soon I, too, fall asleep.

I wake with a jolt, seeing Hermione's door fling open, Weasley and Potter walking in. They stop abruptly, staring, opened mouthed, at us. Hermione's eyes fly open, untangling herself from my arms and standing. I stand as well, looking at Weasley and Potter. "What the bloody hell....?!!!!!!!!" Weasley whispers venomously. Potter opens his mouth and closes it again, looking dumbfounded. Weasley and Potter back out of the room, allowing me an exit. I walk briskly out, shoving past Weasley and walking out the Gryffindor common room, followed by many stares. "Thank goodness it's Saturday...." I think to myself, shoving past several people on my way down to the Slytherin common room.
