"Ooooh" I mumbled, looking thru the windows of stores, oohing and ahhing. I came across a black strapless dress that I seriously fell in love with. I pulled aspen into the store and we both drooled over it. 

"Interested in that ladies?" A familiar voice sounded behind us. I flipped around and screamed.

"KURTIS" His curly brown hair and brownish greenish eyes looked the exact same from the FaceTime calls we had. He smiled and threw his arms out to hug me. Aspen watched in awe, obviously very confused. I tightly hugged his chest, I was soooo much shorter than him. He pulled away and looked at me with a smile.

"I-I-I didn't know you worked here!!!" I stuttered.

"Well, now you do!" He flashed another smile.

"Um. Guys. What is going on?" Aspen mumbled.

"Aspen, meet kurtis. Kurtis meet aspen." They politely shook hands. 

"Dude. I didn't know you lived here Lauren!" He exclaimed.

"Well now you do" I mocked him with a wink. He jokingly punched me in the arm. 

The awkward silence kind of filled the room while we stared at each other. My ringtone interrupted it. I checked the caller.

"Hey Ma." I mumbled.

"Hey Lauren!" I could feel her cheeriness. "How is it in Toronto?" I sighed.

"Ma, I've been here for like a week, I don't know" I chuckled and she joined in before hanging up.

All of a sudden aspen started cursing under her breath.

"Shitshitshitshitshitshitshitshit" 

"Aspen? What is it?"

"Im fucking late to my meeting" I looked at her with a puzzled expression and with that she was gone.

"So uh...I still have some work to do so..Ill text you and we can hang out?" Kurtis fidgeted with his hands.

"I...uh...sure." I mumbled and walked out. The cold February air blew thru my pinkish grayish hair. I can't stop thinking about kurtis. I thought to myself when I got to my hotel. Aspen was there, on a zoom call with her colleagues for work, since she wasn't back in New York where we usually live. I quietly mouthed I'm gonna take a shower! She looked back at me and nodded. I hopped into the bathroom connected to our room and grabbed a towel, hanging it on the shower wall.

"LAUREN" I heard aspen yell, while i stepped into the shower. I ignored her and started the shower.

I shook my towel off and opened my dresser. I took out sweatpants and a green shirt. My comfy clothes, at that. I took out my camera and looked through the wall window next to my hotel bed. It was about 6 - 7pm on a Thursday night, so not many people were driving around. Night was falling, and I caught a great shot of it. Aspen walked into my room and clapped her hands twice. 

"Llllllauren" she said, a smug smile on her face. "Someone's here for youuuuuu" I looked up in confusions, putting my camera away. then we walked towards the door, and aspen opened it.
