William and Bethany quickly ran into the forest nearby as the rains seemed to have poured harder. They could hear the creature closing in behind them as the only thing that kept their path a lit was the lighting that struck.
It hadn't been long before they ran towards the edge of what looked to be a meadow as they couldn't help but have a look of horror. Both turned to one another as they knew for a fact, despite the tall grass, they would be more exposed, and not to mention vulnerable.
They could hear the creature roar again as it made the two of them jump.
William and Bethany looked to one another, before they took each other's hands. After exchanging in a nod, they both ran forward into the open field as William kept a firm hold on Nira. They ran through the field of grass as they could hear the creature closing in behind them.
They continued to move forward as the rain seemed to have picked up. They pushed and broke their way through the tall grass as they could hear the sounds of metal coming towards them. It hadn't been long until--
"GIVE ME MEAT!!"
The creature pounced high into the air as with its bone blade it managed to thrust its blade into her robotic ankle. She let out a shriek of terror as she tripped, dragging William down with her.
"WILL! HELP!" Bethany cried as she started to kick at the beast's hand.
"DON'T LET GO!" He told her as he held his ground while still holding onto Bethany's hand.
"MEAT! MEAT!" The creature cried out as it had started to claw at her leg damaging it in the process.
Bethany shrieked before she did the only thing that could be done in that moment. She clicked on a button that had been on the side as it had detached itself with a hiss. William started to pull Bethany as the creature had been knocked over when it had launched itself from where her knee had been. William had brought her close as the creature tossed it aside.
"Will?" Bethany said as she gripped his arm, "It was nice knowing you!"
"Yeah--" William said, as his grip tightened, "--Same to you!"
The creature let out a piercing roar as it readied itself to finish them off in one blow; William and Bethany shut their eyes as they held onto one another.
BANG!
They felt something liquid hit their faces as they had jumped at the sound. When they opened their eyes they saw the creature had collapsed as they noticed a fresh hole in its head. They had froze up as they saw the creature wasn't moving anymore.
"Will! Bee!"
The two of them jumped as they saw Valentine ran towards them as he had a look of worry. "You guys alright!?" He asked before he saw the state of Bethany's leg and Nira, "Holy--What--!"
"We're okay Val!" Bethany said before she hugged him, as he did for her, "We're okay!"
"That was one hell of a shot you did." William said, "I'd dare say that's a new record."
Valentine soon looked to the creature before he had replied awkwardly, "Actually--That wasn't me."
The two of them were taken back by this before they jumped at a sudden gust of wind just as the rain began to let up. They turned behind them as they saw a man in his mid thirties with a set of what looked to be a pair of bat wings and bat ears as he had a torn cloak covering his entire body; his wings seemed to have retracted itself as they noticed that one of his ears had been chipped and he had been holding a sniper rifle.
