"Mr. Jackson? There has been another case of..."

"Not now, Ms. Tracy."

"But, Sir. Another child is missing, and we'll probably find her in the same condition as the others. And everybody knows that you're the best private detective there is, so on behalf of all the parents; please?"

Michael sighed and sat back in his seat, lifting his tired gaze from the stacks of reports and documents in front of him, to finally look at his nervous secretary. He never really understood why she was so nervous around him. She wasn't like that with the other police officers. She didn't wear short skirts around them, either. She tugged it down to a more appropriate length.

"Thanks, Ms. Tracy, but you know I was taken off the case to investigate the Easter Island killer instead," he said and tried not to roll his eyes.

"But Easter Island isn't even in America, Sir," he objected, and Michael got a bit annoyed.

"It's in Chile, yes I know. But that doesn't change the fact that the victims are solely American tourists."

The secretary pouted a little.

"But can't you take a little break from it? Just temporarily? This is the fifth child that's been frozen solid, and nobody knows what to do."

Michael paused his constant, monotonous skipping through full-written pages. He looked at his secretary with a little more interest this time.

"Five children, you said?"

"Mhm," ms. Tracy nodded.
"Three boys and two girls. All of them between seven and twelve years old."

"And they don't know what happened to them?"

"Nothing. Not a single lead. They're just found frozen in whatever position they had when it happened."

"And nobody knows exactly what..." the detective mumbled, and rubbed his chin. Then he fell into deep thoughts. What if that happened to one of his kids? Wouldn't he do everything in his power to save his child? Of course he would!

"I'll take it," he said eventually, and the secretary looked like she was about to jump up and down and clap her hands in joy.

"Really?"

"Yes, I'll take the case. But!" he said strictly with a finger raised into the air.
"I need to continue the Easter Island case as well."

"So that means...?"

"We'll have to work on it in the evenings, and probably without salary."

He mumbled the last part to himself, almost sounding a little bitter. And maybe he was? He never felt like he had enough room to show his full potential. But if he managed to solve both the Easter Island case and the Snowman case, they had to recognize his skills, right? So, starting from tonight, he wouldn't stop until he could close both of these cases successfully, and save those children.

"Do you have any problems with that?" he asked his secretary, who instantly shook her head.

"Of course not! It'll be a pleasure, sir."
