it was a late Autumn afternoon in the Trost district, the wind blowing  the leaves off of the trees and into the distance with each large gust.

It was a normal day for most, the adults at their jobs or taking care of their homes and the children were already home from school by now, playing with their friends or making their ways home after a long day of learning.

Mikasa stirred on the soft mattress of her bed, Her long, dark eyelashes fluttered as her eyes slowly opened, the light of the sun peeking through the window shades filtering into her vision.

The young woman sat up and stretched her arms, letting out a large yawn as she rubbed her sleepy eyes.

Mikasa's rest was one that the young mother needed. From the time before she went into labor and the time until she took her nap, Mikasa had only gotten a couple of hours of rest which was no where near the healthy amount that a new mother needed.

Today certainly was not a normal day for Mikasa and Eren, with Mikasa giving birth to their daughter in the very early morning.

October twenty third was the day that the parents would celebrate as their baby girl's birthday, a happy day for the new parents.

Now being mostly awake, Mikasa looked around and noticed that she was alone.

Eren and her baby were next to her, so where could they have gone?

Mikasa wanted to panic, but took a deep breath, telling herself that even if they had gone anywhere they couldn't be far.

Looking around the room for any sign of Eren or Carla dhe could find, she quickly got up from her bed, stumbling a bit before she caught herself on the bed frame. She already lost hers and Eren's parents, so the thought of her losing Eren and her own child along with them absolutely terrified the mother to her core.

"Eren?" She asked, loud enough for him to be able to hear if he was inside.

   No answer.

"Eren?!" She asked again, this time more panicked as she quickly made her way out of the bedroom, going into the living area to find her family and not finding anyone there but herself.

All rationality left Mikasa as she was already imagining all of the worst possible scenarios in her head. Thoughts of them being stolen, leaving without a trace, or dying like her or Eren's parents loomed through her mind as her breathing became more labored and her body began to shake, signaling that a panic attack wasn't too far away.

Tears began to prick at her eyes as she desperately tried to suppress the urge to cry, but failed as sobs began to leave her lips.

Mikasa almost never cried, but this occasion was one she deemed more than appropriate as the panic seeped in deeper.

Eren sat on the wooden porch, watching as horse drawn carriages carried the rich down the road and the children playing across the street in an open field, a few houses and businesses in the distance.

The breeze felt nice on the Autumn day as Eren held Carla securely in his arms, looking down at the infant's wide eyes and smiling.

"It won't be too long before you're running around like them too, huh?" He asked rhetorically, obviously not expecting an answer from the small child.

Carla had no other response than to give her father a smile and reach her hand up towards Eren, which he gladly took and allowed her to hold onto his pinky.
