chapter 1 :: innocent

it was 10 minutes past 3 when the schoolbell rung, finally. i grabbed my books and quickly left the room, trying to avoid the massive bunch of girls crowding the hallways. all you could see was white blouses, red checkered skirts, braids and ponytails. chatter and laughter filled the hallways. 

i made my way over to my locker, grabbing all of my books out of it and putting it in my japanese adidas backpack. i shut my locker, greeting a few girls from my classes before making my way through the massive crowd of girls towards the entrance of my girls school.

it was a lot quieter outside, only a few girls roaming around the courtyard. i quickly checked my watch, which said it was 20 minutes past 3. which meant i still had to wait 10 minutes until the schoolbus came to bring me home.

i decided to pay a quick visit to the library, crossing the courtyard and entering the building again. i managed to make my way through the crowd, entering the small library. there were only a few girls sitting on the couches reading a book, and some were scanning the many bookcases.

i walked past a few bookcases, stopping in front of the right bookcase: young adult. there were many famous books like the fault in our stars and the maze runner, but those weren't the books i was looking for. my eyes kept scanning the many backs of books, until they finally landed on the book i was searching for.

hollow city.

the second novel of miss peregrine's peculiar children, one of my all time favorite books. i've been waiting for a while for the book to come out, and finally, it finally came out. i clutched the book to my chest like it was worth millions. 

i walked over to the librarian's desk, handing the book to the librarian. she quickly scanned it together with my library card and handed me both the things back, giving me a small smile before i left the room.

i hurried through the hallways, quickly crossing the courtyard and through the gates. i saw the schoolbus already standing in front of the bus stop, the last girl entering already. i ran down the pavement, my feet hurting like hell thanks to these stupid creepers but i didn't mind. 

when i almost reached the bus stop, the bus drove away. no. fucking. way. i screamed and waved with my hands, only getting a few strange glances from the girls in the back of the bus. i mentally smacked myself, groaning. mother is going to kill me.

i looked around, hoping there were parents who were picking up their children and maybe could drop me off by my house. but there was no one.

there's like thousands of students at my school, but yet there was no one who was going home right now? no. there had to be someone. 

i walked back towards the gates, leaning against the cold metal. the next bus was leaving in an hour, so i had to enjoy myself for the time being.

''looking for someone?'' a deep voice mumbled in my ear, making me jump. my head snapped to the side, to see a young man standing right next to me. he wore ray ban sunglasses, not allowing me to see his eyes which kind of annoyed me.

''no'' i quietly said, turning my face away from the man. i still felt his eyes on my face. ''then what are you doing here, sweetheart?'' he asked, placing his hand on my upper-arm. ''waiting for the schoolbus'' i simply replied.

''honey, are you really going to wait an hour for the bus?'' he smirked, gently squeezing my arm. my eyes widened a bit, feeling very very uncomfortable right now. ''well, i have to'' i muttered, turning my face to look at his.

''should i drop you off at your house?'' he asked, leaning even closer to me. ''i barely know you'' i said, fidgeting nervously with the book in my hands. ''oh c'mon love, i'm not going to do anything to you'' he chuckled, gently pushing me against the metal of the gates.

''i just want to drive with my babygirl for a bit''.

okay you're probably confused why he's already calling her ''my babygirl'' but i will explain it all in the next chapter 

i'm actually not very happy with this first chapter but it will get better i promise
