The doorbell rang. It was way too early for this. I never wanted that thing in my home, my place of solitude, my haven, mine, he had no right to saunter in like he owned the place, albeit he was invited but still.

I was in bed but I wasn't asleep. I heard my mother's heels on the wooden floor of her bedroom across from mine and then heard it stop as she reached the soft carpet of the hall, she passed my door as she headed for the stairs and knocked

"Get up" she called cheerily and opened it a crack to let the light from the bright hallway flood in and destroy my retinas. My dog pranced in, opening it wider, she waddled to my bedside and barked at me so I'd let her up to bask in the comfort and warmth of my sheets(They're especially comfy, they're big and puffy like a cloud and they are the highlight of my life, so I was especially resentful that I had to get up). I obliged. I stood up and placed her in the warm spot where I had been lying, jealous of her taking my place. I threw on some comfy jeans and a big jumper.

"Aaahh heaven" I muttered to Raja, my dog (yes, named after the tiger from Aladdin, don't judge me, it's a funky tiger) followed by the nonsence and baby talk I usually say to her. I was too lazy to go over my hair with the straightener again so I just threw it up in a ponytail. I grabbed some blue fluffy socks- they have a cute little sheep on them saying "I love ewe", it cracks me up everytime 'cause its a sheep, and a ewe... puns are the best- from the pile freshly washed clothes I hadn't put away yet.

I ran down the stairs, I ran a few steps and then slid across the marble floor of the hall, one of the best parts of having these socks, as well as being protected from the cold floor, when I say cold, I mean, like, I'm fairly certain that you could get frostbite from it. I slid like I was iceskating to the room where my parents and their friends were

'Morning' I smiled at them

'Good Morning Eliza' they chorused

I walked into the kitchen to get food as my tummy rumbled.

'Woah, Jelly Bean, I could smell your morning breath the second I stepped into the house' he grinned at me, calling me the nickname he used to call me when we were younger, he was a family friend, unfortunately, that was his parents in the sitting room with my parents.

'Sorry, to dissapoint you asshole, that's the garlic we put around the house to keep you out, unfortunately it didn't work. Please, enlighten me, what are you? 'Cause no one's as eager to find out how to get rid of you than me.'

'You're rambling, sweetheart, I know you can lose the run of yourself when talking to someone as attractive as me, but please, try not to embarrass yourself'

'Oh wow, maybe you really are a vampire'

'And why's that?'

'You obviously can't see your reflection, or is it just that the mirror shatters?'

'Where did this vampire theory come from? because im so goodlooking?'

'Oh yeah, because They're all so attractive... please, you even make Robert Pattinson look good, and no, you just drain the life out of me'

'Aww, you're so cute when you try to bother me' he smiled and then put his finger in his mouth and pretended to gag

'You're so funny, I really don't know how you do it' I said sarcasticallly as I opened the press and grabbed some bread.

'Guys, shut up' My brother Nick, laughed at us, he was best friends with Seth and he was usually amused by our constant bickering. To be honest, I was glad he stopped it, I had a feeling I was going to run out of comebacks soon. I turned to put the toast in the toaster and sat up on the counter. There was silence for a while

'Why are you even here?' I asked disapprovingly.

'We're going to the beach today, 'cause unlike you, we have a life' Seth sneered

'Oh, I'm so jealous, going to the beach to do nothing but perv on girls in bikinis'

'Aw, did I hear jealous? If you'd like to strut for me, I wouldn't complain'

'Ew!' Nick cried in the corner

'In your dreams' I ignored him

'Oh, how did you know? Thats my life goal,'

'Well obviously, you've nothing else you can do with your life.' he rolled his eyes

'Even if I didn't, that would not be something I'd ever want.'

'I'm sure' I smiled and winked at him 'That's why you brought it up' I immediately regretted the wink, I looked like I was in a sandstorm, trying to stop the sand from getting in my eyes, he didnt seem to notice, because he looked away quickly, grinning. My toast popped up and I took it out of the toaster and got the nutella out of the press and dumped basically half the jar on it. My mouth was watering and I was glad to finally get to eat it. I muttered a bye through the huge bite I'd just taken and went into the other sitting room that wasn't occupied and put on Friends.

A while later Seth's parents called up at them to hurry, they were giving them a lift to the beach, they pounded downstiars with Nick's packed bag.

'Bye' I called 'Try to keep yourselves under control, I dont want a neice of nephew yet Nicky'

'We're going to the arcade, Eliza!' he said, sounding exasperated

'Relax, Eliza' Seth winked 'No need to get jealous'

'Don't flatter yourself'

'I don't need to, I have you, the light of my life.'

'I'm the light of most people's lives' i smiled sweetly at him

'Of course, a light that burns the eyes.'

'And we're back to the vampire theory. Hopefully you don't burn to death at the beach.'

'Well, I'd hate to disappoint you'

'I'd be so heart broken' I rolled my eyes

'Seth! Nicholas! Come on!' at the sound of his mother's warning tone, they bolted for the door and off they went.

Finally some peace and quiet.
